Below average

Cons: Staff needs to be trained in customer relationship and communication.
Location: Good location for all the sightseeing.
Firstly, got into room and the key card could not be slotted into the holder for electricity. Phoned operation and someone came round to find that the holder was loosed. Enquired about why there was no fridge (mini bar) in the room and got a reply that because of maintenance on that particular floor. However, we were not told when check-in and no apology was made. Hotel room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast range was great. The facilities in the hotel was good, however the sauna was not hot (only 40deg C instead of above 60) for 2 out of 4 times we went and also the flooring was loose, almost stood on a nail. The worst thing was that workman starting drilling work at 6.30am on our last day there, so we got woken up by the working noise. When asked at reception, the only answer I got was that the workmen should have started at 9am. All the door locks were removed by the workmen already when we decided to go to breakfast at 7.30am since we got woken up anyway. Even a slight explanation or apology would be ok, but the only thing I got was they will look into it. Overall, although hotel in good location and has good facilities, but staff were below standard.

Nice hotel but looks a bit dated. Good location

Posted Sep 21, 2014
The hotel is getting refurbished so maybe will look a bit better but it's clean and simple. The other one closer to the water is a bit more grand but the location in this one is a lot better.

City Centre hotel.

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: Excellent breakfast (included in room cost). Good swimming pool.
Cons: The sensitivity of the room card keys. We were constantly having to have them re-programmed.
Location: Very central and conveniently located adjacent to the Airport Bus Stop. Shops, restaurants & tour buses were within easy reach on foot.
We were in a family room, 3rd floor. The room was lacking facilities which are to be expected in a four star rated hotel e.g. No coffee/tea making facilities; there were no towelling gowns (the swimming pool was in the basement); no slippers. All these things are expected these days.

Excellent location, amazing breakfast included!

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: LOVED the breakfast, comfortable mattress, nice linens and location. Also liked the fact that we were able to book a quad room/queen bed queen sofa
I am so glad I picked this hotel for our 3 night trip to Oslo. My family of 4 was pleased! We took the train from the airport and got off at the National Theater stop from where it is only a 5 minute walk which - even with lots of luggage - was no problem. The train cost $50 per adult, roundtrip and the kids were free, so I am fairly certain that this will be your most economical option in the MOST EXPENSIVE city in the world! People had warned us prior to the trip, but oh my! $5 for a small bottle of water, $12 for a hot dog from a street vendor, $2.50 for an apple and about $50 per person for an average sit down dinner. Based on that, we were THRILLED with the amazing breakfast that the hotel has included. It had just about everything you can ever think of, so we had a big breakfast every day and one meal in the late afternoon which worked out fine and saved us a ton of money. The hotel is just a couple minutes from the Royal Palace, right next to a beautiful park and only a 10 minute, pleasant walk to city hall and the harbor from where we took a 2 hour cruise which I recommend. The hotel had a lovely indoor pool, sauna, a rooftop bar (that we never got to check out) and a convenience store for snacks, drinks and ice cream. The staff was very pleasant and you can tell that the hotel really tries to go above and beyond for its guests. The room was spacious and clean and we loved the comfortable mattress and high end linens.

Not a great experience

Posted Aug 15, 2014
We booked a family room (my wife and me plus our 6yr old) and were given a room with 2 single beds and a terrible sofa bed for our son, which wasn't fit for purpose or safe for small children. We asked for another room and were offered a room on the 16th floor that was very old and tatty. We stayed in the first room but asked for a second mattress, which never arrived (they did bring a second duvet). There was no kettle or drinks making facility. The staff brought things promptly but what we had in the room changed on a daily basis - one day nothing, the next cups and glasses, the next only glasses. The staff were generally helpful but we were told the hotel was at capacity so they couldn't do much. The beds were ok but the pillows were terribly soft and needed bath towels to support them (a personal preference maybe). On our last night roadworks outside the hotel started sometime around 1am and continued for much of the night (not the hotels responsibility). It was like transformers fighting outside the room! Ultimately we were happy to leave.
