Far from train, no AC .
The room was advertised to have air conditioning which it did not. You have to walk down and back up a long hill to go to Oslo by train. About 25 min on train after a long walk. The service in the restaurant is poor. I would not recommend

Very friendly staff and a warm welcome to a relaxing and quiet Norwegian experience. A bit of a hike with luggage from the metro stop but we were there to hike the many trails in the area so it was not a problem for us.

Amazing hotel!! Outstanding view of Oslo, very friendly staff, room was very clean. Good options on the breakfast buffet and it was very tasty! Highly recommended!

Rent a car to go there
Holmenkollen is very beautiful. If you intend to stay there, you will need a car. A cab ride into Oslo cost close to $70 or 700 Norwegian Crowns.

We couldn't go as a family as passports had ran out, it cost a lot of money for us as a family but they couldn't care less. Took all the money no offer of credit note or voucher very poor customer service.

Don't choose the superior room
Very disappointed with the stay overall. After driving half a day, we had hoped to check in and rest but the room was not cleaned until 5pm. Upon receiving the keys (two hours after check in) we were disappointed with the room we received. Paying almost 3k NOK for a "superior" room, we received the most standard of rooms on the ground floor, right behind the smoking point by the lobby entry. No promised sofa, no hair dryer, no place to put your luggage and a shower that wet the entire bathroom. Nothing “superior" about the room aside from the view which disappeared as soon as we got the room. Maybe if you were lucky you could get a room on the second floor but definitely disappointing as we couldn't leave the curtains open without being greeted by the glances of each arriving guest. The only redeeming quality was the breakfast buffet. Shame as we had high hopes and have heard good things about the place.

rooms looking tired.
this was our third stay here due to the amazing location overlooking oslo and the fjord. However the room looked tired and the lack of evening eating options were very limited. Finally, the aircon in the room is not possible to switch off and caused too much noise for a good sleep. Not coming back.

Amazing New Year Celebration at this hotel!
Amazing hotel at the most amazing location! We celebrated New Year here with our 2 children (9&10year) and the inlaws, we were on our way from Sweden back to NY and I couldn’t think of a better spot to look at the new year fireworks. We were all blown away by the spectacular views! Also, the rooms were beautiful, we got rooms in the renovated parts and our room was very spacious, clean and had a beautiful wall made of rocks. Before we arrived, Vebjørn at front desk was super helpful with everything from room recommendations to restaurant booking. We went for the new year buffet in Saga Restaurant and we couldn’t have been happier! Usually a conference room but looks nothing like a conference room, more like a grand ballroom with old Norwegian touches. The old parts of the hotel (where the restaurant De Fem Stuer is located) is a must see. The kids also enjoyed the pool and we were just a couple of minutes away from the skijump. We will be back!

What ever happened to hospitality?
Seems like the Scandic group has opted for deals with tour operators and large firms which leaves them eith delivering only the very basic of service quality. The room was not cleaned properly. The staff vety expeditive with regards to any questions at the front desk. The pillows come from Ikea (the cheapest of the cheapest, made of polyester balls), the mattresses equally cheap and too soft. I wanted to treat my children to a lovely stay with what I remember was an amazing breakfast with a cook preparing eggs and pancakes in front of you, freshly prepared smoothies, but that had been reduced to a regular buffet. That such an amazing historical building in Oslo most scenic location should have been turned into a mediocre, souless hotel is shameful.

Beautiful old hotel! It has a classic feel without being gross and dated. The breakfast is fantastic, rooms are clean and comfortable, all the staff are very friendly and helpful and the surrounding view is SPECTACULAR! We loved staying here and would highly recommend it

A View WAYYYY up on the hill
The location was farther out than we thought and the rate of taxis from downtown was a big ouch. The rooms were basic but clean. The beds are terrible. The food was exceptional and made up for the beds! Now the view is worth staying up here for. The Olympic ski jump was a short walk away and worth visiting if you like that sort of thing.

Nice stay
Reception was helpful and informative. Restaurant menu was a bit limited but waiter staff were nice. Breakfast was wide buffet choice on offer including many gluten free cakes and peanut butter. Unfortunately it was all cleared away fairly promptly!
