All booking on line companies should state that facilities are only available in season, i.e. June onwards. The seaside town was off season and it was difficult to find anywhere to eat in the evening: room service with snacks did not exist. The hotel was also low season, so all that the p.r. offered was not available. This is the same with many hotels that are suggested on every booking site,

Newish hotel, pleasant and helpful staff, clean and spacious rooms. Nothing to be done about the location, which is nice enough and on a main route, although the journey to the centre of Rome takes around an hour, hour and a quarter depending on waits for buses and trains. Close to a market and gelaterias, etc. A good hotel if you want good value, even if it is a remove from the sights. Ostia is about a half hour away by bus.

I chose this hotel for its closeness to Fiumiicino Airport in Rome. The room was clean and comfortable. Not large, but adequate for a few day stay. The front desk person was amazingly helpful and pleasant. The housekeeping staff was great in changing the king bed to two twins. They provided secure parking without extra charge. They offered free WiFi. Restaurants were nearby as was the beach.
I appreciate clean and comfortable and don't need a four or five star rating. La Riva satisfied my requirements. The hotel provided a tasty and adequate breakfast. I would definitely stay there again if I ever considered a return trip to Rome.
I doubt that I will ever return to Rome. It was unbelievably crowded, expensive and unpleasant. If one enjoys spending untold hours with 5000 of your closest friends, Rome is the place to go. If not, there are many other places to visit.
I lived in Europe for six years and traveled most of the continent. La Riva was a very pleasant stay in comparison to many others over the years.

You have 3 star hotels that are a disaster and others that should be 4 star.
This is neither but it is:
Opposite the sea
Nice helpful staff
I would stay there again (and I'm fussy)

Lying 31 kilometres southwest of Rome, Lido di Ostia this is Rome’s seafront. Most of the busy beach is privatised, so there is a surcharge for use and loungers and parasols. The jewel of the area is nearby Ostia Antica. The architectural site gives a fascinating insight into the everyday life of sailors, merchants and slaves dating to the fourth century B.C. It later became Ancient Rome’s port for 600 years.
