Good Hotel Right By The Market

Posted Sep 14, 2014
The hotel was located right by the market which was perfect for walking and sight seeing. The staff were helpful and courteous. Our room was clean and comfortable. We were told to get an inside facing room and were glad we did since it gets loud when the bars let out late at night. There was no noise for us and were satisfied with our stay.

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments about your stay! We're glad your enjoyed your time with us! The Byward Market is a great area with so much to see and do! That being said, this can sometimes cause excessive street noise. Requests can be made for rooms which face our inner courtyard and are therefore not susceptible to the goings on in the area. While these requests can't be guaranteed, we will always do our absolute best to accommodate. We're very pleased to hear that our staff were friendly and helpful and our rooms clean and comfortable, as these are important in ensuring our guests enjoy their time with us. Again, we want to thank you for your feedback and we hope to see you again!

Right in the midst of the night life!

Posted Sep 9, 2014
Pros: Incredibly friendly staff, nice proximity to a lot of activity.
Cons: Just the cleanliness/scent of the bathroom -- it smelled like cigarette smoke.
Location: Nice outdoor market and a lot of nightlife -- and plentiful shwarma and poutine.
I was in town for a conference that was a block away from the hotel, so from a convenience perspective, I couldn't beat the location. The lobby and facilities were nice, clean, and obviously secure. It's definitely located in a college night-life hot spot though, so walking around outside and getting to the hotel was filled with some drunken antics -- can't fault them for that! The attendant was incredibly nice and offered to change my reservation around a bit so that I would not have to stay on the ground floor to avoid the nightlife noise. The room was totally reasonable, and pretty clean. The only downside was that the bathroom smelled pretty strongly of cigarette smoke. I got in pretty late at night, and didn't want to bother them with a fairly minor issue, so just decided to stay in the room. Overall, I would absolutely stay there again.

Nice decor, very comfortable & great location!!!!

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: The comfortable bed was number one. Location, location, location.
Cons: Shower too small. Need night lite in bathroom instead of full lite at night. Two people , two chocolates instead of one.... Lol.
Location: Marketplace, pubs, great boutiques and restaurants. Close to Parliment Hill, Sparks St., Museums, Rideau Center, the canal and National Arts Center.
Ample parking. Check in was very friendly, competent and informative. Room on fourth floor with a view to the action and comfortable accommodation. Slept like a log in the comfy king bed and after a full day of sightseeing & walking it was absolutely perfect. Staff very friendly and helpful. Have stayed before and will definitely stay again.

Great to be Back!

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: Location is fantastic, can't beat it if you just want to arrive and not have to drive to everything. It is right in the Market area so lots going on.
Cons: The parking garage was full when we arrived and they charged us $20, told us to park 2 blocks away. Right next door is a city lot for $20. Park there.
Location: Empire Grill is the best steak house! Expensive but great! everything else is within walking distance from here.
We always book at this location when we want to spend a night or two enjoying the Market area in Ottawa and be able to just park and walk everywhere. The staff is always great, made great recommendations for dinner. One of the nicest touches I have seen was a hand signed note in our room from the manager stating that they hoped everything was to our liking. There is a No noise policy in effect after certain hours so you don't have to deal with rowdy bar hoppers if that should happen. This is my 4th stay here and I love it every time.

Nice hotel close to downtown and attraction

Posted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: This hotel located in the center of attraction, restaurants, services, etc.
Cons: N/A
Location: Like I said, we were in the beautiful part of Ottawa, we could walk to see the parliament, historical place and good restaurant.
It's was great!, nice to stay in that hotel. We enjoy our time spend in Ottawa and hopefully return at the same hotel next time. We suggest his hotel to everyone who want to spend a wonderful time over there.

You are paying for location.

Pros:
Staff were very young and uninformed. The location was noisy at night (unexpected). Restaurants accept for a few were all chains and very ordinary or served Bar food.

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback about your stay! We're sorry you felt our staff were not properly informed. While the average age of our Front Desk staff is about 22-35, as we found they have an energy and eagerness that is quite refreshing, they are also very knowledgeable about the hotel and surrounding areas. They're always ready to give directions or recommendations to their favourite local attraction or restaurant. The Byward Market contains over 100 restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Only about 2 or 3 of them are chains (such as Lonestar or Dunn's) and the large majority of not only restaurants, but stores also, that are located in the Byward Market are "one ofs" or "mom and pop" type restaurants. You will not find great restaurants like Play Food & Wine, Mamma Grazzi's, Navarra and more anywhere else in the world! All the restaurants, shopping and more in the area do make it a busy part of town, and this can sometimes cause excessive street noise. For guests who would prefer a quieter courtyard facing room versus a room which gives a view of the city, they may make the request when reserving or when checking-in and we will always do our best to accommodate. Again, we want to thank you for giving us your feedback as it helps us to improve our service and we hope to see you again in Ottawa!

Nice hotel right in the Byward Market area.

Posted Aug 10, 2014
Pros: I liked its location and the front desk staff.
Cons: For the price I couldn't ask for more.
Location: It's right in the Market area, so the many shops and kiosks are at your door. You can easily walk to the indoor mall and to the Parliament Buildings.
The check-in and check-out were quick and easy. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. They explained that the area could be noisy at night and asked if I wanted a room with a view to the market area or a quieter room facing inwards. They happily called for cabs for me.

Thank you for giving us such a great review of your stay! We're happy to hear that you enjoyed your time with us and that our staff took the time to ensure you were well informed about area offerings and assisted you with taxis when needed. The Byward Market is a busy area, both day and night, so guests who prefer to face our inner courtyard will not be subject to any street noise that may arise. Again, we thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and we look forward to hosting your next visit to the Nation's Capital!
