Not Worth the Money

Posted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: The room was clean.
I reserved an "executive" room with a view of the park. The hotel confirmed via email that I would get that. I did not. The room was clean but nothing more than you would get at a Holiday Inn. The pictures and description of the rooms did not match up. The amenities consisted of one small bottle of water for two of us. The hotel restaurant was expensive for a very less than average breakfast buffet. I would have left and stayed in another hotel but since I had booked through Expedia I could not get a refund. I will never use Expedia again because I don't want to get stuck in another substandard hotel.

Nice hotel close to Parlament

Posted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: The staff was wonderful and very helpful
Cons: The room looked clean but I noticed a lot of dust in the air and also noticed a considerable amount of dust on the headboards of the beds.
Location: We walked to the museum and to Parlament building.
Nice and friendly staff. The kids loved the changing of the guards. We came for a mini vacation and enjoyed our time in Ottawa. The cleansiness of the room was a bit disappointing, considering I have an allergy to dust. It made my stay unpleasant in the hotel room (sneezing and runny nose).

Nice hotel

Enjoyed everything, nice fitness facility. Room was standard. The service was great. The only two negatives were the shower (as it had no pressure) and the view from my room was of an alleyway.

Pros: close to downtown
Cons: Better parking options
Bed was not the greatest- soft. The choices of TV stations and quality of the signal could be improved.

Nice downtown hotel

Posted Sep 9, 2014
Excellent location in the heart of downtown. Close to Parliament and government buildings. Hop on hop off trolley just a few minutes walk from hotel. Walkable to Byward Market, Sparks Street, Rideau Mall, with National Arts Center across the street. Room had a refrigerator and Keurig machine. Starbucks a bonus.

nice hotel, close to byward market

Posted Sep 8, 2014
Pros: clean and centrally located to downtown
very... very noisy, parties on both sides of our room. Called front desk and after the 2n call finally noise was gone. Called to replace defective hair dryer, took a while to get a new one. The 2nd one didn't work either. Not impressed.

Fine hotel, service, and location.

Posted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Virtually everything.
Cons: The Starbucks was a bit disappointing and shorted us. I'd prefer a Second Cup or even Tim Horton's.
Location: There are too many things to do. The laser show at parliament and tours. Sparks Street mall is two blocks away. The Bywater Market and Rideau Mall, too
The location is fantastic. It is within walking distance to many attractions, museums, restaurants, shopping, and parliament. With valet parking and in/out rights, virtually anything in in Ottawa is only minutes away. The hotel itself is pretty good. It's well maintained and nicely appointed. It has a slightly older and refined vibe, but isn't too stodgy. The staff was fantastic all around. If they made a mistake, ownership was taken. Valets apologized for mistaking a number, which caused a delay in getting my car. the maids, and other staff engaged you to find out if you had any needs, but were not obtrusive. We were very pleased with the service and level of help that we received our entire stay. It was a pleasure staying there.

A Short Stay in Ottawa

Posted Aug 31, 2014
Pros: It was built in 1941 and has tried to remain true to that era. The lobby still has the original mailbox, house phone and elevators from that time.
Cons: Our room was spacious, but because of it's internal location was very dark. Perhaps more lighting could be added.
Location: Perfect location. Exactly where any tourist would want to be. All the sights of Ottawa at your doorstep.
We chose this hotel for our two day stay due to it's central location. We wanted to be able to walk to most attractions. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet was very good.
