Pleasantly SurprisedPosted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: Clean,. Comfortable. Convenient.
We usually rent a house for for a week each year in Duck. This year, we did the OBX on the tail end of a trip to Texas, so a house for 3 days wasn't an option. We weren't expecting much, but were looking forward to enjoying the beautiful beaches for a few days. This hotel was perfect. Clean room, with high ceilings and screen door let us stroll to the (not too crowded) beach or pool. The only (minor) drawback was there is no restaurant or lounge onsite. Being situated about 5 miles between either Duck or Corolla, that really wasn't a big deal.

Nice hotel, great beachPosted Aug 4, 2014
Rooms were nice and clean, the sliding door was in need of repair, it took two people to pull it open and closed! Other than that the hotel was beautiful.

Nice,clean and close to beach.Posted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: Very clean, friendly staff and good breakfast.
Cons: Need a more comfortable sofa bed with thicker cushion or add a micro-foam mattress cover to it.
Location: Quiet location, on the beach and short drive to restaurants and shops.
Very relaxing and enjoyable. Liked the pools and lazy river.

Return Customer disappointedPosted Jul 17, 2014
We have stayed at the hotel for years and only once and a while did we have any problems. This time we were excited to go as we had heard renovations had been completed on the facility. It was getting a little dated so we were looking forward to a fresh clean hotel. We noticed the siding had changed on the exterior which looked nice. Upon entering the room, we noticed the different décor which was decent but than looked in the bathroom. The bathtubs had not been renovated and this bathroom had cracked tiles and moldy grout. I asked at the front desk and she said the bathrooms had been renovated as well. I told her that they might have added a shelf and painted but the tub was not new. We were moved to another room which was actually worse. At this point, we called the manager to show him the moldy tub. He agreed that was unacceptable and moved us once again. He checked the third room ( which was fine) so that is where we ended up staying for our three nights. They gave us the one night free for our troubles but I was disappointed to see so much work go into changing decor yet not in providing new clean bathrooms. The guest services manager, Don, was helpful and did what he could to make our stay better but truly I was shocked that other people had stayed in those rooms and not complained. I don't know if we will return next year. We have stayed there for many summers but this experience was not positive.

Pluses and minusesPosted Jul 5, 2014
Overall, the staff was courteous. One male staff member at the desk could have been more friendly - was a bit curt when we asked when the room might be ready because we were early. We only wanted to know so we would know when to be back. Hotel has good access to the beautiful beach. Laundry facilities a plus. Complimentary breakfast a definite plus. Biggest downside is that the room had a view of the dumpster and was noisy. Avoid rooms with numbers in the 140s and you should be okay.

Wonderful beach vacation!Posted Jun 28, 2014
Pros: The hotel is perfect for families - ease of assess to the beach, kid friendly pools, room size, and tasty breakfast.
Cons: The wooden walkway to the beach needs a little attention.
Location: Beach and more beach, yummy restaurants, light houses, shopping, kid friendly activities.
This was a wonderful vacation for our family of five. The hotel was elegant and clean with an awesome location-on the beach! The rooms are large enough to accommodate a family of six. Each room has a mini fridge and microwave to allow for a quick (and cheaper) meal. The main draw, the beach, has a full time life guard, is not crowded, and just outside the hotel. Each day we saw dolphins while enjoying perfect weather and warm ocean waves. The pools provided an afternoon of entertainment and delight for our kids. Morning breakfast was tasty and made life so easy. Our children enjoyed the selection, each day something new, which held them over until lunch time The location in Corrolla was perfect-several restaurants and early evening outings of putt-putt and bumper cars. We WILL stay here again!

Anniversary get awayPosted Jun 20, 2014
Pros: Everything, very comfortable
Cons: possibly a snack bar or restaurant for casual lunches or dinners. Going out to eat was nice but sometimes we felt like staying at the hotel.
Location: Restaurants and shopping were within 15 - 25 minutes away. We only went out to dinner or shop so amusements were not on our list of things to do.
The hotel was very nice, clean and staff was very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was very good every day we stayed. Location was away from traffic and quiet. Shopping and restaurants were within 15 minute drive.

I went for a girl's vacation and found the hotel to be a gem. We were close enough to shooing, restaurants, and other entertainment. The rooms were very nicely remodeled and the staff was very friendly.
