My StayPosted Oct 6, 2013
Pros: I did not like this motel.
Unacceptable! The motel was very old (built in the 1960s). The furniture was old, in poor contition and not clean. There was no electrical outlet in or near the bathroom. The room was dirty, the matress was old and sagging. The deadbolt was screwed into only the trim of the door frame. We pre-paid for two nights, but left after one as we could not tolerate the accomodations.

Bed and a shower! It met my needs.Posted Sep 23, 2013
Convenient, comfortable and not too overpriced. The rooms are dated, but were fine for a fishing trip stay!!

Pros: Very affordable and CLEAN
Cons: Carpet needs to be replaced
Location: great beach access...close to shops, food, water sports, just about anything you would want to do.
Motel is older, but is very clean. Only issue was the carpet needs to be replaced. Would DEFINITELY stay here again. Great access to beach. Friendly staff. WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE.

Great for the PricePosted Sep 17, 2013
Pros: I loved the proximity to the beach.
Location: It's on the south end of Nags Head, so there are many shops and restaurants. Jeanette's fishing pier is within walking distance.
My husband and I stayed here as a little birthday getaway. We stayed at another less expensive motel last year, and weren't expecting much after that experience. However, Owen's Motel was a pleasant surprise. It was maintained pretty well and clean. Don't get me wrong, you're not going to get the Ritz Carlton, but for the price, this was very pleasing.

was ok near beachPosted Sep 14, 2013
we were across the street not on the beach as pictured. Very basic. Did not!!!!! like getting ice out of a cooler that was sitting in the sun. Room was clean, not bad for a few days

Decent Hotel Near the BeachPosted Sep 4, 2013
Pros: The room was clean and close to some great restaurants.
Cons: The window fixed, nice pillows, and a bigger shower.
Location: Great restaurants, shopping, and the beach. I would recommend the sound for people with small kids, its shallow and the water's gentle.
The Owens hotel is only part ocean front, most of the rooms are across the street from the ocean. That surprised me as I was not told my stay would be across the street from the ocean. The hotel was clean but didn't have a phone or working alarm clock, and the pillows were flat. The back window was broke and the a/c blew into the curtains, not out into the room. The most disappointing and inconvenient part of the stay was the extra small shower stall. I almost had to wash one half of my body and then the other while standing outside the shower to rinse completely. Again I was never informed that there wouldn't be a tub.

This hotel takes me back to a time when the OBX was full of Mom and Pop Hotels like this. If you need a lot of creature comforts, this place ain't for you. But, if you want a place near/on the beach where the room is clean, the bathroom works and the staff is friendly this place works.
