Location: Take a trip up the Currituck Lighthouse Take a horse tour with the real deal, the Corolla Wild Horse Fund.
Nice old fashioned place with boardwalks and pier out to the bay.

It was okay, nothing special

Posted Jul 9, 2013
Pros: Location is great, Corolla is nice.
Cons: If you're going to tout being green and saving energy (rather than just hoping to save money on washing sheets) show it. Start with room 40.
Location: The beach is very close, hotel has pool and hot tub, continental breakfast was nice.
This hotel is cute and the location is great but it could use some updating. The furnishings, bathrooms, and overall appearance of the place harkens back to the mid-80's; making it expensive for an okay room. It was clean; the pool and hot tub were nice; continental breakfast was terrific; and the front office staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Most interesting were the three 'save energy, we're green' framed messages in the room while the refrigerator was at least 20 years old (making it inefficient) and the shower/tub faucet pull didn't work, so most of the water did not go to the energy-saving shower head but down the drain. The hair dryer didn't work properly either- so old it just didn't heat or blow as it should any longer. Glad I had my own with me. It is a nice location and close to the beach but just know that you will be paying a pretty penny and it ain't the Ritz.

Wonderful Stay!!!

Posted Jun 7, 2013
Pros: Hot tub, breakfast, pier.
Cons: Leaving.
Location: In Corolla Light Resort Community. Free access to all resort amenities.
My wife and I were impressed from the moment we checked in. The lobby has the feel of a bed and breakfast with a sitting room, a dining room, a small office and a deck with seating outside. All the staff are very friendly and accommodating to anything you need. Our room was a King with a kitchenette. The room itself was much more spacious than a typical hotel room. Although the room seemed to have been recently renovated, it also had the feel that you were in a southern bed and breakfast (very charming). The bathroom was very nice with plenty of places to place/hang your things. Great water pressure in the shower, which is something I love. The kitchenette has a small refrigerator, cooktop stove, sink, microwave, toaster, pots, pans plates, silverware, wine opener and more. There is also a small dining table for 2. Couldn't ask for anything more than this room offered. Outside you will find a nice pool and hot tub that is right on the sound water. This is very relaxing. There is also a pier with a gazebo that has lots of seating if you want to relax on the sound or watch the sunset. This pier is also used for onsite rentals of jet skis and parasailing. The hotel has plenty of beach bikes that you can use for free. The breakfast is free and good with coffee, tea, pastries, sausage, cereals, breads and more. The Inn is part of the Corolla Light resort community, which gives you free access to all their amenities. Bob's Wild Horse Tours is also on site.

NC Outer Banks gem

Posted Nov 13, 2012
This is a hidden gem at the northern tip of NC's Outer Banks. Our room (#25) was actually over the water on the sound and we had a beautiful view of a pier, the sound and the sunset each evening. The hotel staff directed us to two restaurants that had very little invested in ambiance but had 5 star food that could have been served at a top restaurant in NY City. Apparently the hotel is under new management and the staff are all very proud of their facility. Two minutes from the northernmost NC lighthouse built in the 1800s and you can climb it. Jeep four wheel drive tours to see wild horses along the coastline beyond where the roads go.

Past its prime perhaps?

Pros: Location by the ocean
Cons: Stained carpet and tired appearance
I was attracted to travel to the Outer Banks area purely based on viewing this hotel. We had a wonderful week in the area however The Inn at Corolla was not the anticipated highlight. Our room was a very spacious suite overlooking the ocean but somewhat "tired" with stained carpet, coffee cup with broken handle etc. Got the impression this hotel was wonderful in its hey day but is now looking in need of some upkeep and maintenance. It was adequate but not quite as "special" as pictured. Therefore I did not consider it good value - certainly compared to other places we stayed in the region.

What's not to love?

Pros: A spacious room, friendly people, a tasty breakfast with good coffee.
Cons: I didn't really have any!
Location: Loved the pier/water.
Our room was spacious with a bathroom my husband and I could inhabit at the same time! Toiletries were provided. I was surprised that the room contained a kitchenette with serving plates, etc. The kingsize bed was quite comfortable with plenty of pillows. The air conditioner was a tad noisy, (but it masked my husband's snoring, so that was fine!). Our view was stupendous. Breakfast out on the deck was delicious; the decor of the dining area is a beach lover's dream. Everyone was quite friendly. When it came time to leave, I didn't want to go. I want to go back and bring another couple with us so that we can all enjoy it together.
