Overtornea isn't the only spot in Norrbotten that is worth experiencing; avid travelers should set out to see the unique qualities of the surrounding landscapes, towns and cities. If you're looking for other places to check out, you'll find Overkalix, 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the east, and Karungi 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the north.
One of the best ways to really understand an area is by exploring its past. Take a trip to the traditional villages while you are here.
If you think an excellent vacation is maxing-out your heart rate in wild places, then join one of the ice skating and ice fishing adventures the area around Overtornea has to offer.
One of the delights of exploring the world's many cultures is employing languages you aren't familiar with, so be sure to try out some Swedish during your holiday. "Vill du dansa med mig?" ("Would you like to dance with me?") is useful. "Varifrån kommer du?" ("Where are you from?") is also helpful.
Travelers lucky enough to be visiting Overtornea or in other towns and cities in Sweden on the 6th of June, can enjoy country-wide Swedish Flag Day festivities and events.
You'll be reluctant to bid "Hej då" (farewell) to this special spot.
