“To ensure their best service”

After a drink in the bar we went into the restaurant without a reservation. Staff asked if we wouldn't mind about a half hour wait "to ensure their best service". We were given menus and returned to the bar, and they assured us they would be along when ready. This they did, perfect service. Its a shame more establishments don't do this, instead of cramming the tables. Excellent service, happy bar, a really good experience. Pleasantly surprised given that this is really a business/conference orientated hotel, whereas we were a family enjoying Oxfordshire. And the clocks in the bathrooms are something else

“A good value”

We stayed in the "garden rooms" which are in a building adjacent to the main lodging. The rooms were fine and because we booked our stay during a room sale, the value was very good. There was an annoying buzzing sound in our bathroom that the staff addressed (but could not fix during the two days we were at the hotel). I would recommend this hotel, especially if you can book rooms during the off season.

“pleasant stay, all be it with miner problems”

The kettle in the room leaked, water over the tray and electrical connections for the kettle, fortunately there was no electrical failures, items on tray, along with surface it rested got awash with water. A very strong smell of smoking was outside room 108 on the Friday evening, being a no smoking environment, and having had personal experience from affects of smoking both from a health perspective and social cost, due to increased risk of fire, this was upsetting. Objectively we felt unable to mention these issues to the reception staff, due to quanitity of distance between staff and guest, and seating opposite, promoting a certain level of loss personal discression.
