Beautiful historic building

Posted Jun 29, 2015
Pros: Character and architecture.
Cons: The hotel's only weak point is the food and wine list.
Location: A great pub with extensive menu in the same village, within 10mins walk. Also the Park and Ride to Oxford is just two miles distant for easy access.
A fairly-ranked four-star in a beautiful location. The main floor includes the old barn, with high ceilings and a fireplace, while our room was in the old part of the building - fantastic thick stone walls and patterned windows. The staff are friendly and there's plenty of them. Very relaxing stay and the pool's larger than average, too.

For a 4 star rated hotel it was disappointing

Posted Jun 23, 2015
Cons: mentioned already
Location: Oxford in wonderful. The natural history museum is a must so is a river cruise or a punt.
No air conditioning No mini bar/ fridge in the room Poor water pressure in the shower Constant low pitch noise in the background Construction happening during the day No lift

Pros: Its quiet and lovely.
Location: A bit far out from Oxford so unable to walk to and from the office.
Lovely hotel for business traveler who is looking for a quiet, calm environment after a busy hectic day at the office.

Attractive hotel close to Oxford

Posted Mar 29, 2015
Pros: Character of the building, clean and tastefully decorated
Cons: A few little extras in the room that make the price more justifiable
Location: Just outside the city centre. Would recommendations to a park and ride. Canal close by and a lovely little pub by a lock behind the hotel
Clean and pleasant standard room. Rather pricey if you choose not to use the pool, gym etc Room was more basic than expected with limited 'extras'. Excellent buffet breakfast

Oxford Thames Four Pillars

Posted Mar 18, 2015 on Hotels

A trip for two just for a treat. A real gem in beautiful surroundings, lovely room, excellent staff, great pool/spa and delicious food! What more could you ask for! So much better than Malmaison. Thanks for a lovely stay. We would defiantly come back and recommend to all.

very enjoyable stay

Unfortunately only stayed one night but I am sure we will return again. This is a beautiful hotel on the banks of the Thames. The room we stayed in was on the ground floor and had its own patio area which would have been lovely to use if the weather had been warmer. It was spacious, spotlessly clean with everything you needed for a comfortable stay. We had a snack in the bar at lunchtime which was very good and enjoyed a very good meal in the restaurant in the evening. The staff were polite, welcoming and very efficient and nothing seemed too much trouble. We have stayed at the sister hotel in Oxford previously (the Oxford Spires) which is also lovely, however I think this will be our first choice next time.
