Lovely coaching inn..Posted Nov 30, 2013
The Red lion delivered everything we could have hoped for and more at an excellent price. A warm greeting on arrival and a warning to 'watch your head as you go upstairs!' The room was clean and creaky.. Just as you would want from a building with that much history. Good, reasonably priced food and 'house beer' on tap :) Don't go expecting 5* luxury (you're not paying 5* prices after all!) and you won't be dissapointed.

good hotel for couples and friendsPosted Aug 15, 2013
Staff very friendly and happy to go the extra mile to help us. Recommended short cuts to places we wish to visit. Nothing appeared to be any trouble to them. Room was serviced every day. We did not like the fact that our bedroom was split over two levels the upper level housed the toilet, bath and sink but was completely open plan. The narrow winding stairs to the upper level would be a problem to anyone with a mobility problem. We will be returning.

Country HotelPosted Jul 31, 2013
Pros: The country, old world charm.
Cons: Nothing that I could see
Location: Pleasant walks around a small lake nearby and village. We were visiting relatives and were only there overnight.
Loved the whole old world experience of an English country pub. If you love the traditional pub type experience you will love this quaint little hotel.Very quiet. Very friendly and most helpful staff. Meals were excellent.

EXcellent hotel gor a restful breakPosted Jun 25, 2013
Pros: Friendly helpful staff
Cons: Uncomfortable bed
Location: Quiet on outskirts of Banbury
Excellent welcome and helpfulness of all staff a credit to the hotel nothing was too much trouble. Ate in restaurant on all three nights food good with an extensive selection. Prices were reasonable too. Room very in keeping with the ambiance of the hotel. Large though somewhat uncomfortable bed. Seating area large LCD television. Two desks with chairs. Tea coffee hot chocolate provided along with biscuits which were replenished daily. A spotless clean bathroom with shower only. Plenty of hot water once we had worked out the controlS. All in all a pleasant relaxing three days break. We would certainly return to the Red Lion.

Good hotel with character and charmPosted Jun 10, 2013
We had a comfortable 2 night stay. The staff went the extra mile, when due to an appointment in the village, we needed a late breakfast on the 2nd day. Excellent service.

Tranquility hotel.Posted May 29, 2013
Pros: It has character, is very comfortable and cosy and the staff were very friendly, helpful, efficient and determined to make your stay a good one.
Location: The location was very pretty, with character Cotswold styled buildings surrounding the central green. Peaceful and quaint.
This is a quaint hotel with bags of character that reflect it's passage through several centuries. It is situated overlooking "The Green" which is surrounded with similar period, Cotswold stone buildings, making the immediate locality one of full of charm. The hotel itself is a very restful place and meandering stairways and corridors, make the journey to your room fun and whisks your thoughts and imagination back to what this place may have been like several centuries and what and who were the people who frequented it then. Rooms were comfy and sizeable enough, meals were excellent, as was the service from all the staff that we encountered during our one night stay. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they served efficiently and professionally, with a smile and kind, polite conversation which was very welcoming. A thoroughly pleasant place to stay and one we would have no hesitation using again if we are in that area. Thank you everyone.

Nice placePosted May 4, 2013
Pretty Hotel. Nice staff, Good Breakfast. Big room. Off street parking. Good bed. Free wi-fi. Interesting stairs to the rooms?! Would be hard for elderly. Use the night entrance once you get the room key.. much easier access.

Wonderful stayPosted Apr 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
On arrival at the hotel Derek the Manager was on reception to greet us, he was very friendly and showed us a lovely clean room with a four poster bed, window seat and leather sofa. Although the windows were original, the double glazing panels ensured a peacefull sleep. Very quirky room. We ate in the pub in the evening, the food was beautifully presented, good quality and plenty. The staff were very pleasant and went out of their way to make our stay. The breakfast was lovely and a little chat with Derek and the staff before our departure was nice. Although he has not been at the hotel very long, he knew a lot about the history of the pub. If we were passing this way again we would definately return.
