As the Inn was built in 1709, it has been well cared for and it was enjoyable to stay at. Typical for the period the room were small yet cosy, with a good ensuite shower, with good working wifi in our room. Staff were pleasant and we were never rushed and had on occasions to seek staff out, but overall we would stay again, if returning to the area. The Inn's menu's to have dinner were supplied in our room, but having decided what were intended to eat for dinner, we found they had changed a newer dinning menu whilst no wine list or prices were available to allow a choice. There was excellent parking at the rear of the Hotel for guests staying.

Has so much potential
Recently taken over we understand so took this into consideration- good value for money as breakfast included. First morning we had the best fried breakfast ever! The second day we had the worst breakfast ever!! Pointed this out to waitress but she seemed to realise the food wasn’t satisfactory but didn’t respond.Burnt eggs and bacon. Room was cosy but bed throw and decorative cushions had stains on - actual bed was nice and clean so I would ditch the accessories. The pub has so much potential so hopefully the new owners will be able to turn this pub around. Excellent location and lovely area.

Only stayed one night. Staff friendly food delicious and very modern bed room. Only one small criticism breakfast was not hot, assumed mine put to oneside as wifes made. Apart from that small hiccup a wonderful place.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. Hotel room was fantastic we will stay again. 10 out of 10 nothing was too much trouble for the staff they made our stay very enjoyable.

Romantic one night stay
Great one night romantic stay in traditional pub in lovely quaint village 10 minute walk from River Thames. Staff courteous and efficient on arrival and through out stay. Well appointed and clean room. Excellent, good value food in evening and great breakfast

Certainly worth a stay!
Staff very welcoming, helpful and curteous. Nothing was too much trouble. Room very comfortable, temperature controlled and very clean. Food well prepared, fresh,local ingredients and a good menu range. Good service in a pleasant setting. The Crown Inn itself is in a quiet area, plenty of parking and central for touring. Lovely walks in the area particularly from Bensen to Wallingford, which is worth a visit. Given the opportunity we would certainly stay again.

Great rooms, newly refurbished, easy to find and lovely pub. Breakfast was a nightmare and gave up after waiting nearly 25mins before I was even asked for my breakfast order.

Nice rooms, be aware of breakfast times!
Nice pub, nice well appointed room. However, this was a business trip and I didn’t note anywhere in the information given that breakfast wasn’t available until 8.30am, so unfortunately had to leave earlier and missed it. I’m sure 8.30 would be fine if you were here for leisure.

We stayed here for one night and I would come again! Staff were friendly, rooms were lovely- modern inside, and clean. Complementary ciders from the local brewery and homemade biscuits- what’s not to like? Breakfast in the morning was really good. Thank you!

Welcoming hosts in the pub. Shown to room. Comfortable room, quiet once pub closed at 10.30. Not a large car park which was nearly full at arrival time with pub customers. Clean bathroom with nice shower. Tea and coffee making facilities with a range of teas but no decaf coffee. Lovely breakfast.

Second visit - just as good as the first!
We just completed out second stay at the Crown Inn. Elspeth, Miles and the team at the Crown are exceptional hosts. Every member of staff is friendly and engaging. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. If you are visiting the Benson/Wallingford area then I recommend that you consider booking the Crown Inn. We are looking forward to our future visits.

Fantastic stay. Lovely hotel, comfortable, great shower. Room was a double rather than a twin when we arrived but the issue was quickly resolved instantly with no fuss at all. Highly recommend a stay here.

Great friendly pub, all the rooms have been recently renovated to a high standard Great shower and selection of tea and coffee in the room I had a meal in the evening that was excellent and a good selection of local beer on tap. Breakfast so was also to a very high standard Miles and his team were excellent For anyone on business WiFi is great in the pub and rooms

It had basically shut down 2 days before our stay and no one told us no one there on checkin Place was empty no staff No hot water Room was rank smelt like a sewer I will be getting my money back 😡
