wedding in OxfordPosted Aug 17, 2014
Pros: Friendly competent staff Good breakfast and dinner Beautiful grounds
Cons: Small room (can't do much about that in old character building) Very limited hanging and virtually no draw space
Location: Near Oxford and all its attractions
Beautiful setting A bit out of the way if you don't have a car you will need taxis

Relaxing weekend awayPosted Aug 10, 2014
Lovely hotel, very pleasant staff, delicious food, relaxing spa, comfy ed. Beautiful area of the Cotswolds. Plumbing in our room and in next door room a little noisy (errant groans from it any time water was used), service at dinner good one night, a little haphazard the next.

Perfect, but let down by bathroomsPosted Jul 29, 2014
Pros: Location, Staff, Restaurant, public areas (lots of them) Free Wi-Fi
Cons: Convert the "Cosy" rooms bathrooms to shower rooms and make them usable for people over 5' and 10 Stone
Location: Great base for the Game Fair at Blenheim, just an easy 20 minutes drive away
Great hotel in a beautiful location with super staff, and an excellent restaurant. Free Wi-Fi always appreciated. Cosy rooms very small but comfortable with first class linen and pillows. Big let down is the hobbit size bathroom with toilet squeezed between heated towel rail and bath. Access to use shower is by scrambling between sink and shower screen and only place to lay anything is on upper roof tresses. Should have be kept as shower rooms when the hotel was converted from a conference centre at which time I suspect these would have all be single rooms. Shame because as a well managed and extremely nice hotel the bathrooms in these "cosy" rooms are totally impracticable.

Lovely inn/ hotel , beautiful settingPosted Jul 14, 2014
Blessed with beautifully weather so could relax in the gardens. Staff excellent, very friendly, dog was treated very well as a guest! The room was comfortable - some would say possibly on the small side - but made up for it with little terrace facing the River ! Would come again most definitely.

Marvellous mix of old and newPosted Jul 5, 2014
Pros: Service, food, ambience of the older parts.
Cons: The overall quality of the place was very high - but the faux suits of armour and "Keep Calm and Carry On" style messages cheapened the image.
Location: Burford is 5miles away - perfect for Antiques collectors like us.
This hotel deserves great success. The staff were all charming and helpful and everything was clean and well thought out. We were in a Garden room in the Minster Mill section. Although we normally prefer an old style room (eg with four poster etc), such a room wasn't available on this occasion but we were very happy with the style and comfort of the standard room. The food was excellent - in fact when we had dinner on the first night we were so impressed we cancelled our booking at a much vaunted restaurant in Woodstock the following evening and once again ate at the Old Swan.

Idyllic Retreat....Posted Jun 30, 2014
Pros: The Old Swan/Mill has superb character and delivers that little extra.......
Cons: The dinner menu could be expanded, as the choice was limited. The food overall was of a good standard.
A really well presented hotel with some fantastic character. Such a relaxing place with great friendly staff, particularly liked the greeting and tour from the host. Comfortable room and bed, which didn't disappoint for a great nights rest!

Cotswolds dreamPosted Jun 13, 2014 on Hotels.com
Paid a little extra for a lovely garden view. Overall it was a wonderful hotel, with lovely staff, great rooms, and fab breakfast. I have stayed in many London hotels for the same price but half the charm. Cannot wait to go back...

Small rooms!Posted Jun 10, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotels situation is second to none, set in a sleepy little village it fairly quite. The service in the hotel is first class my only reservation is that for the money you are paying for bed & breakfast the rooms are very small and the prices they charge In the restaurant and bar are very steep for what you get! Would I come back hear - probably not. Would I recommend this hotel - probably not.
