Welcoming staff, personal feelPosted Dec 9, 2013
Pros: Attentive staff
Cons: Shower facilities
The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and inside the decore was lovely. The room was very clean, relatively large and the bed was comfy. It had all the expected facilities, the only thing I would say is that as the building is very old and as the features are kept in that style the shower was not modern and ran boiling hot then freezing cold constantly. The staff were very attentive though to all questions and needs, for example bringing a fresh jug of ice cold water to the room at no extra charge. They were all very professional and polite.

nice quiet hotel in very nice groundsPosted Oct 21, 2013
Pros: we were able to meet as a family in a very pleasant lounge with no outside interruptions
Location: directions to the hotel were not easy to find so make sure you have a good map
we needed a walk in shower and our initial reservation did not have that .. it was changed for us with no issues

Lovely Country HotelPosted Jun 19, 2013 on Hotels.com
Although a little out of town from the City of Oxford, this hotel is quaint and delightful. My family wanted to stay an extra couple of days because it was so relaxing and comfortable, especially after several days of touring in London. If you have an opportunity (and transportation) to stay here, you won't be disappointed!

Great hotel in a great locationPosted Jun 10, 2013
Lovely hotel in a secluded location, very quiet, nice rooms, if you can get one on the ground floor with a terrace, it was lovely weather and it was nice to be able to sit outside our room, although the main terrace for the hotel is lovely overlooking the gardens and woodland. We didnt realise when booking what a great location its in, it was around a 10 minute drive to the nearest park & ride and then only another 10 minutes on the bus into the town centre!

A little pricey but very nicePosted Jun 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
We ate in the restaurant and I ordered a vegetarian meal which I unfortunately had to send back as the risotto was half inch thick in oil. They did knock it off the bill though. Hotel overall very nice.

A quaint hotel with great service and a quiet location at a great price. I rarely review hotels, but this one was very worth it. We'll be back!

Shower problemsPosted Apr 5, 2013
Pros: The garden and location
Cons: The showers
Location: Convenient road access to the centre -- avoid the park and ride, though, as it's no cheaper than parking.
We checked in quite late, went to sleep and checked out early so our experiences were limited to the check-in and the room. Check-in was efficient but not overly friendly. The room was clean and well furnished. The real problem was the shower which was cold or scalding with no medium level. When we checked out we mentioned it and the people behind us in the queue said "That sounds familiar" and we all had a chat about how bad the water-flow was... Otherwise a beautiful and convenient location and the room was great. Just a bad shower and rather efficient and not-quite-unfriendly service at check-in.

Lovely hotel, not too far from city centrePosted Apr 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
When we arrived we received a warm welcome from the helpful Receptionist and were directed to our well-appointed room. The room was a bit small (it was long and thin with the TV in an awkward position, blocked if the bathroom door was in use). The decor was a bit dated but the room was very clean and comfortable. Our first night wasn't very restful but that was because of a noisy group of guys staying along our corridor. The next morning we paid extra to have breakfast. The room was very nice and had a great view. The cooked breakfast was nice, if a little greasy and maybe a bit overpriced at £10.50 so we decided to give it a miss the next day. The hotel is only a couple of miles from Oxford city centre but isn't suitable for walking. Apparently there's a bus but we got taxis to and fro which worked out ok. The first night we got a black cab which was £11, but mini cabs cost us about £6 each time. The Receptionist was very knowledgeable and helpful when we asked him for travel info, to call cabs and for ideas of what we could do. All in all, it was a lovely stay in an attractive and well-run hotel, and we would stay again.
