Good base to see Venice

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: Coffee
Location: Visit Venice or go for a meal in one of the town squares
We found this hotel to be good value for money. There was an additional cost for secure parking, but you could park on the street nearby if you preferred. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast buffet had a good range and the coffee was very nice. The hotel is five minutes from the train station and the journey to Venice is only about half an hour.

Last stop on the way home

Posted Jul 6, 2014
Pros: The staff made this hotel excel.
Location: short walk to city central where all kids of shops and restaurants are. You can't drive into town. Tables/chairs set up under umbrellas inthe streets
I can't say more than the staff was the greatest. After coming back from walking into city centro they gave my wife and I a drink( just one thing to show how concerned they are for their guests) I took pictures of the breakfast buffet because it was so many different delicious things.

Room had a musty, old smell that at times was overpowering. No air conditioning and with windows open the street noise was constantly there and loud. The room seemed clean except for the smell.

Good standard hotel

The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast good, the room was comfortable except the air-con did not work, which was only a problem for one rather warm night. Otherwise I would recommend this hotel.

Excellent value and well-placed location

Posted Apr 17, 2014
Pros: Everything. It suited our requirements very well.
Cons: Not the hotel's fault but the weather was unseasonably warm and the air-conditoning was not allowed to operate before May 1st.
Location: We really enjoyed a day-long trip along the Brenta Canal between Padua and Venice. The tour operator was Il Burchiello.
We needed a hotel near the bus and train stations as we wanted to visit Verona and Venice in addition to Padua. The hotel was an easy not more than ten minutes' walk from both, as well as being within convenient reach of the Scrovegni Chapel, the focus of our visit to Padua. The hotel staff were all lovely. Breakfast was good. We had requested a quiet room if possible and were surprised to have been given one at the front of the hotel - until we realised how good the external sound insulation was. I would most definitely recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to be out and about seeing all the sights.

Good for station

Posted Apr 3, 2014 on Hotels.com
Staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice. There is a restaurant in the hotel but staff are happy to suggest others in the area. We picked it because we arrived by train so it was very convenient - only 10 minutes from the station (we didn't have to get a taxi or walk far with our bags). There is a luggage storage facility and we were offered water for our onward journey. The only drawback was one night when arriving guests were rather noisy.

Close to Old City and its Sights

Posted Feb 10, 2014 on Hotels.com
The room and bathroom were fine, and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was ample and consisted of eggs, meat, cheese, a variety of cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt, bread, pastries, milk, coffee, tea. The staff from the front desk to the breakfast room was VERY friendly and helpful. The Hotel is about 15 minutes easy walking from the Old City... walking around within the Old City to enjoy what it offers can take 4 or 5 hours. Parking is provided, and the Train Station is just around the corner.

Average at best

Posted Nov 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
Our reason for being in Padua was of course to see the Scrovegni Chapel. Arrived by train and quickly walked through a somewhat questionable area before finding Hotel Al Cason. Our simple room, with a very small shower (I'm petite and I felt cramped) faced the street. At 5:30am loud voices could be heard and on the street, people (students?) were walking and riding bikes just like it was the middle of the day. Breakfast was acceptable.

Lovely staff and great room.

Wondered about staying here, given not in centre of town, but , providing you're ok with walking 400m,, the buses into the centre are very frequent & easy to use. Get a day ticket for 24hrs or even better, a "Padua Card" , which takes any hassle out of tickets. 800m to railway station. The staff are lovely, rooms large and beds are comfy.
