This was a highly rated hotel in Paducah. I deliberately chose one of the more expensive hotels available because comfort and cleanliness are important to us on an overnight stay. The front desk clerk who checked us in was friendly and helpful. I had regrets though, as soon as I entered our room. There was a putrid smell in the room, tempered with some sort of sweet smell, like they couldn't get rid of it, so they tried to mask it. But ugh, it didn't work. The mattress on the bed was cheap and very uncomfortable. I woke up with back and hip pain from it (yes, I'm a bit older so such things affect me more). Otherwise I suppose the room was acceptable. The included breakfast the next morning was pretty poor. Even the make your own waffle was rubbery. They ran out of plates so my husband and I had to share a plate. The front desk clerk was also manning the breakfast room and clearly was spread too thin. We really wished we had just gone to a nearby restaurant. Given the price for the area and the average rating of 9/10, we expected more. The hotel isn't terrible, but it's definitely not up to standard for the nightly price, and not worthy of a rating that high.
