Great Getaway

Posted May 28, 2014
Pros: Great staff and solitude
Cons: hot water was there for first couple days, but its hot enough you don't miss it when out
Location: remote, nothing is nearby so plan on it
Beautiful remote island experience plus A/C, wifi (in 2 common areas) and typical Philippines hospitality. Quite a jaunt from both the airport and Coron town, so once you get there plan on spending most of your time on the island relaxing on the amazing beach, overeating at the buffet 3 times a day, and enjoying ever present but unobtrusive staff catering to your every need. Diving opportunities abound with dedicated shop at the resort organizing daily excursions; the house reef was a great dive just walking in from the resort. I stayed in the hilltop units, but would opt for the beach huts next time as they each have amazing ocean views great sunsets off their porches.

a place to get off the grid

Posted Jan 25, 2014
Pros: Service & food if you like Filipino, seafood
Location: It is a 30 min van ride and 30 min boat ride from the airport. Diving and snorkeling right off the beach. Coron tours are 2 hours away.
Truly wonderful experience at this serene resort. Excellent service and wonderful staff. A place to get away from it all but with comoforts of a 4 star hotel.

Very nice and helpful staff, facilities are okay, food and drinks and massage are expensive, but if you're looking for a relaxing holiday, then it's the perfect place.

Lovely beach and super staff

Posted Oct 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel is definately in need of updating, and the beach cottages are smaller than I expected... however the location is great! Food was ok, but for the price expected more and was hoping for some kind of a la carte menu which there was none... Staff were simply superb and made up for the poor weather we had.

Spectacular location

Probably the best location at Coron (it is a private island above Coron). Beautiful beaches, excellent house reef with turtles. I saw an Eagle Ray and another guest was fortunate enough to see a reef shark. Staff are extremely friendly and even participated in some activities with us. For example, I played beach volleyball a couple nights with the staff, one staff member on her time off did the island hopping tour with us and had a few staff over for drinks another night. Villas are nice, but could use a few upgrades. I prefer block out curtains so I don't get up when the sun does. A TV and wifi in the room would be a bonus at times.

Nice resort in a beautiful setting

Posted Dec 4, 2012
This location is fabulous. Idyllic white sand beaches, cool ocean breezes, magnificent views of distant mountains and other islands, hidden beaches, stunning sunsets (complete with squadrons of fruit bats departing for their nocturnal adventures), excellent snorkeling right off the beach. Excellent service! The buffets were OK, but the real treat was having the chef prepare some special requests (grilled local fish, Laing, Bicol Espres, and chicken inasal) complete with cooking lessons. Room was a bungalow. Clean, air conditioned and right on the beach. Very nice. It was one of the most expensive hotels of the trip, however given it's remoteness and quality of location and service, and by "resort" standards, it was a fair value. But expect to pay hansomely for your rooms, food and beverages. Only other negative is the pool. Needs some filtering/treatment. Cloudy, but water is an issue on the island, they have to bring it in from Busuanga because the well can't supply enough.
