Shabby Chic Hotel in centre of Palermo

Cons: Everything but then it probably wouldn't be such a bargain
Location: Perfect location in the centre of Palermo, close to shops, restaurants and the marina.
The Grand Hotel et des Palmes was unique. It still resembled what it must have been like in its heyday but sadly time has taken its toll on the hotel. However, it puts on a good face and was excellent value for money. The rooms were comfortable and air-conditioned (a plus in Sicily) and the buffet breakfast was second to none! Overall it was a very pleasant experience.

Shabby chic. Memories of old Palmero

Pros: The charm of an old world experience. The beauty of the decor especially the foyer and the breakfast room Excellent food at the breakfast buffet
Cons: staff could be more switched on and more sophisticated in their responses to questions. Staff are helpful but lack knowledge of the hotels history
Location: Lots of beautiful buildings, nice parks and lovely cafes. However palmero is very dirty in some places and pavements are badly maintained
This hotel has a great history. The Mafia had a huge meeting of foreign the main families here. Oscar Wilde and Wagner stayed. There was a tropical garden here and it was clearly the place to do business in the 19th century. The 2015 experience is charming in a 1970s kind of retro way. More could be made of the hotel's glorious history Staff could do with better English and showing you how to do things to solve the hotels poor wi if access rather than doing it for you. Everything is very clean but clearly there is not enough money for maintence but peeling paint adds to the old world charm. Palmero is beautiful in part but also challenging and full of rubbish. The hotel is a lovely oasis to retreat from all the urban chaos outside. The tourist information services are worse than useless. People just sitting around chatting and not engaging with customers. Too many cafes have people outside hustling for business. Pavements are filthy and badly maintained. The traffic is dangerous and Italians do not seem to have any sense of community space and the collective beyond family. However it is also in its buildings, food, drink and history passionate , beautiful and dramatic. Definetly worth visiting

UNA VACANZA PERFETTA

A PARTE LA GRANDE COMODITA DI ESSERE IN CENTRO CITTA E QUINDI ESSERE NELLE VICINANZE DEI POSTI PIU IMPORTANTI DA VISITARE, CIO' CHE CI HA COLPITO E' STATA LA TRANQUILLITA, L' ELEGANZA, L' ECCELLENZA DEL SERVIZIO E, ALL'INGLESE, LAST BUT NOT LEAST LA RICCHEZZA DEL BUFFET PER LA COLAZIONE.

Molti Ospiti ci raccontano che è come se il tempo si fosse fermato e anche il più piccolo movimento è scandito da un ritmo leggero, quasi impercettibile. Con immenso piacere leggo che ha apprezzato anche la nostra ricca colazione a buffet servita nella lussuosa Sala degli Specchi. Hotel storico, che meriterebbe una rinfrescata in

Pros: Il sapore di storia della città che aleggiava nell'aria.
Sostanzialmente positiva. E' dispiaciuto, all'inizio, il fatto che ci sia stata assegnata una camera con la moquette che presentava segni esteriori di non adeguata pulizia. Il nostra timore è che la prenotazione con Expedia induca alcuni albergatori a non assegnare, in primis, la camera migliore. Tuttavia, appena fatto presente l'inconveniente, la camera ci è stata cambiata.

Albergo di grande charme alle origini

Pros: Lo spirito da belle epoque
Cons: Ascensori, moquette, persiane, garage gratuito
Location: Centralissimo per visitare tutti i monumenti più importanti è ottimo
Oggi l'albergo è in parte chiuso in attesa di restauri. Nella parte attiva necessita di alcune migliorie . Ma il rischio che chiuda o sia venduto (come si vocifera) agli arabi è terribile: l'albergo ha una storia e al suo interno vi sono arredi importanti nonchè sale prestigiose).

Run down hotel

First they gave us a room with window on a very dirty black roof top-you would never want to open it. They changed us after we complained and took us to a room that smelled really badly of cigarettes with cigarette burns on carpet. They changed us again to a room which we were happy in but realized later that the a/c had no power - we told them and they offered to change us again. We decided to just stay put for the night. This hotel needs updating though it must have been beautiful in the past.

Per gli amanti degli hotels con un passato e' una chicca. L'attuale clientela , turismo di massa, non riesce a scalfire il fascino dei locali. Non e' un hotel moderno ma e' bello ammirare le decorazioni, i mobili e gli ambienti ben tenuti e testimoni di un passato con clientela di prim'ordine. Buono il servizio e ottima colazione, Caro il servizio di garage (lasciando per tutto il giorno l'automobile nei parcheggi pubblici a pagamento si rsparmia piu' della meta).
