Pros: The views and eating breakfast al fresco!
Cons: Showers need to be improved - they spray everywhere.
Location: 10 mins from the city centre by bus/taxi. The area is a little run down. A nice restaurant nearby called Staffa and super market if needed.
This is a lovely hotel more geared for couples rather than families. Stunning views. We were disappointed not to be able to use the pool in April and also no shuttle buses during this month. Lovely staff. Taxis are very expensive so best to use buses. Also bring along mosquito spray! The restaurant is very expensive so best to eat in the centre.

Elegance & Excellence CombinedPosted Dec 28, 2013
Pros: The hotel is stunning, but it is the people who work there that make it come to life.
Cons: I can't think of anything that needs improvement.
Location: There are too many things to mention. Palermo itself is full of historical sites and then there is all of surrounding Siciliy to explore.
Whether you are traveling alone,as a couple or in a family, the Hotel Villa Igiea will not disappoint. It is a combination of Belle Epoche era/design mixed with Sicilian hospitality/culture. To a person, the hotel employees are helpful, knowledgable and kind. Hotel Villa Igiea is a gem and I plan on returning as soon as possible.

Wonderful hotel and staff! Everything was great!Posted Oct 15, 2013
Pros: Charm, comfort, location and food.
Cons: I can't think of a thing.
Location: Palermo has a lot of historical and artistic patrimony to offer. The hotel's free shuttle service is a big plus.
The staff was exceptionally helpful in every way! This is a wonderful place to stay.

Castle in PalermoPosted Oct 4, 2013
Pros: The pool and the night ambiance at the restaurant bar with the terrace overlooking the marina, it's beautiful.
Location: You have to go to Mondello beach, the water, scenery are amazing. make sure you go to Ristorante Al Gabbiano, they have amazing food there.
This is a beautiful hotel that used to be a castle in a nice location between downtown and Mondello Beach. The hotel staff is very friendly as well as accomodating. The room was very confortable, the pool is amazing. They have a shuttle to take you to the beach and downtown but you have to make reservations in advance as space is limited. Ask about the charges as they are not free but much cheaper than the taxi cabs. Be aware the cab drivers try to charge as much as they can so make sure you ask rates before you take one and you can negociate rates. Do not plan on going downtown on Sundays as everything is closed but make sure you explore downtown Palermo there are tons of things to see. This is a couples location, very relaxing.

Proper luxury hotelPosted Sep 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
We had a fantastic stay at Grand Hotel Villa Igiea which is a proper 5 star luxury rather formal hotel with fantastic service. Our deluxe room was beautiful overlooking the gardens ,pool and sea. Friends had recommended it to us and we were not disappointed! As it is quite a way from the city centre we used the complimentary shuttle bus which was excellent. The surrounding area was really dirty and run down so either a taxi or shuttle bus is needed to get to the centre of town. Wonderful!

Best place to stay in Palermo!Posted Sep 2, 2013
Pros: Everything! The free parking, shuttle service to the city, comfortable and clean rooms, excellent free breakfast, super friendly and helpful staff!
Cons: Pool closed too early- would have been nice to be able to use it after we got back in the evenings.
Location: Beautiful view of the harbor/water, shuttle takes you into the city center. There are a few nice restaurants nearby for some good local dishes.
This hotel was a fantastic place to stay in Palermo with free parking! We loved that they had a free shuttle service into Palermo, and although we didn't get to use it, it was nice that they offered a shuttle up to the beach too. The staff was super helpful, and we loved some of the restaurant recommendations that they gave us. The breakfast each morning was fantastic, everything was freshly prepared and delicious. We would stay there again in a heartbeat!
