We have lots of great memories of staying at Seralcaldio, mainly because Valeria loves providing such a welcoming place. Her breakfasts were delicious and filling and we could make drinks throughout the day which was very handy and saved a small fortune. She did my laundry for free and let my partner use her laptop for urgent business. She gave her time freely for information to get the most out of our location in the centre of the city and I would recommend it to everyone. She responded to our emails immediately so we got there easily, and waited for us even when our flight was delayed. I hope to go again; it's just as worthwhile to meet and get to know Valeria as it is to see the varied sights of Palermo.

Remember this a B & B not a hotel. The rooms are on the 3rd floor and you are on your own once you get there. You need to pay, cash up front, no credit cards. The location is good but you get what you pay for. No amenities, just a room. Try and get an inner room as they are quieter vs. a room on the main street. I would recommend a hotel room.

I went to Sicily to visit Palermo, Catania, Corleone and climb up to the Etna. I wanted to book only one hotel room in Palermo. Hotel Cortese is in the downtown and you can get a feeling about "real" Palermo. A family runs a hotel and they are very very friendly even if they do not speak English. But do not worrie won't be any language problem :) I rented a car to go away after I explored Palermo. They gave me a garage which was very cheap. But do not rent big car, the big car is a suicide in Palermo :) All in all I enjoyed very much the stay at Hotel Cortese. Thank you very much for the staff.

Very centrally located hotel. Giuseppe was a great host for us...he spoke English whereas most hotel staff can't get by with more than a few words. He was very helpful showing us around.
The hotel was very clean, reasonably comfortable. The rooms overlooking the interior of the building are probably quieter than the ones facing the street, but his is Palermo and it is going to be loud regardless.

As we were coming from Positano, we expected to arrive very late. We called ahead and Luca was very gracious and checked us in at 11:30pm. Breakfast was great, staff was excellent, room was very comfortable. Would stay here again.

Not easy to find as some other reviews highlight. It is in an area which is pedestrianised during the day. We parked in a nearby street and found it on foot. From that point on, everything was wonderful. Daniele (the owner) is an enthusiastic and helpful host. He drove our car to the hotel and unloaded the luggage and then on to the car park (additional cost 20 euro/day). He also explained how we could have left the car parked in street parking at less cost, but we preferred not to leave the car parked on narrow streets. "Room" was a large suite - large bedroom with large separate sitting room and very good shower in the bathroom. Excellent restaurant recommendations from Daniele too.
