Nice Hotel, excellent location.

Posted Mar 3, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff, clean rooms, modern decor. Great location. We were moved to a larger room upon request with no fuss or additional charge.
Cons: Tea/coffee making facilities in room. Slightly more choice at breakfast, although what was there was fine.
Location: Plenty of designer shops nearby, if you have the money! Visit the Giardino Inglese park for a little respite from the noise of the city.
The Plaza Opera is a very well located hotel in a quiet side street but moments from the main square of Palermo and right near the shopping area and Politeama Theatre. It is about a twenty minute walk to the old part of the city with its many fascinating buildings and street markets. Palermo is not the cleanest of cities but there is a lot to see and we found the locals generally friendly and helpful. It is a city that is well worth visiting and we enjoyed our few days there.

Conveniently located

This hotel was conveniently located near the main shopping street and was within walking distance of the major attractions in the old quarter. It was clean and comfortable. Parking was available for a charge. Wi fi was also available for a fee and it only worked intermittently and only in the public areas. Given the overall cost of the hotel, the wi fi could be included. The breakfast was nice but nothing really special. Staff was friendly and helpful.

one night in Palermo

Pros: Very courteous staff, clean and attractive room.
Cons: Nothing that I noticed during my short stay.
Location: The snag is that I especially wanted to visit the Archaeological Museum, which is - or would be - fairly nearby. But that museum is closed.
good hotel, courteous staff, pleasant room. The hotel is perhaps fifteen minutes' walk from the heart of Palermo.

Lovely hotel in quiet area

Pros: The location, the attitude of the staff, the cleanliness and the food. Also you are very close to the bus stop for the airport.
Location: Quiet part of the city with plenty of designer shops. Mondello beach resort can be reached by bus near to hotel.
We had an excellent holiday . The hotel staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. We were able to walk into the centre of Palermo easily from the hotel, but staff also gave advice on other places to visit. Their recommendations for restaurants were excellent. Our room was a good size and comfortable with air conditioning . The hotel is clean and welcoming. You have a lovely variety of food at the breakfast buffet.

Nice hotel in Palermo.

Posted Sep 30, 2013
Pros: Staff was very friendly, spoke English, and very kindly helped us to make arrangements for a driver when we could not rent a car as planned.
Cons: Room was a bit small, but comfortable. Better quality mattress and bedding would have been nice.
Location: Location was very convenient. We were able to easily walk to places to eat, transportation and most tourist sites.
This hotel was very nice, although Palermo is a bit shabby and dirty (lots of litter and trash in the streets and on the sidewalks. It is located just a few blocks (within easy walking distance) of the port area, bus station, rental car locations and several tourist sites. Additionally, there is a hop on-hop off site seeing bus that can get you to most places tourists would want to see. We only stayed here one night, but the staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very nice. We speak no Italian, but that was not a problem as all of the staff either spoke some English or made every effort to understand what we needed and help us.

In general we had a pleasant stay. The breakfast was good. Location was convenient. The service was good. Staff helped parking the car in the near garage. They also went above and beyond providing directions and recommendations for the restaurants. Also, the staff helped with printing the urgent documents for my husband .

Decent hotel in a very dirty city

Posted Sep 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
While the hotel seems very dated with brass fixtures, etc, the hotel was nice enough. It had a typical thin, hard European bed, but unfortunately it's hard to find better throughout Europe. The room was relatively small, but had a nice bathroom-- it did have some mold problems though, because the shower is not enclosed. The location is good enough, but I would prefer to stay in a different neighborhood away from the old part of town which is very dirty and crumbling.
