This hotel fails to deliver except in price...Posted Aug 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
My wife and I stayed at this alleged 4 star hotel with the hopes of relaxing prior to a family wedding. What we found was a hotel with no functioning air conditioning, even though it was 100 degrees outside. When we ask for a room change or someone to fix it we were told we needed to wait till tomorrow. Mind you we were only staying for 2 days. Horrible service, limited car parking at the hotel, pool was nice and relaxing, view was nice. But overall not what you would or should expect from a 4 star hotel. This was more like a 2-3 star hotel...at best.

Wonderful beach escape from PalermoPosted May 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
Free from the hustle and bustle of Palermo and only a 20-minute bus ride (#806) from the city, this hotel is in a beach resort area where the locals seem to escape for clean air, sunshine and incredibly fresh seafood. Our room (a standard) was clean, roomy and comfortable, with an efficient and quiet air conditioner. Birds outside our patio set the tone for this peaceful experience. Breakfast was extensive and the staff was very nice.

Dreamy locationPosted May 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
We had a great time there- The location is dreamy, with an amazing view. The hotel staff was wonderful, in particular the lady at the reception (wish I could remember her name- she is romanian) and the lady who was serving at breakfast. The pool was clean, the room was clean and quiet and spacious. Honestly the service was awesome!I would go back in a heartbeat!

2nd time at Hotel La Torre SplendidPosted May 5, 2013
Pros: walking distance to town, quiet, nice beds
Cons: elevator almost gives you whiplash, and with so much incredible espresso and coffee in Italy, why can't a hotel buffet breakfast have good coffee?
Location: Beach. Food, Shopping. All good and relaxed, good place to run and bike too.
I was here 5 years ago, enjoyed it and decided to return to it at the end of my latest Sicilian vacation. The hotel itself is in a fantastic location, but the facility needs a little work ( elevator, paint, etc... ). The one thing I didn't enjoy was that on my last trip as on this one, the taxi to the airport was so expensive and there seems to be a monopoly of the use of a man named Tomasso, whom the hotel claims will only charge 35 euros for the 25 minute drive to PMO, but 5 years ago it was 52 euros and last week it was 43 euros. Lovely town, beach, great heated salt water pool in back of hotel, a fair price, except for the taxi of Signore Tomasso. Grazie.

A reality check to survive.Posted Apr 29, 2013
Pros: The helpful/friendly staff
Cons: Tired 1960's building
Location: See above comments about the village of Mondello.
This hotel is showing its age and needs modernisation. It's rated 4 star but in reality it should be no higher than 3 star. The hotel attracts short stay package holiday customer groups which impacts on longer stay guests in terms of noise. The self serve breakfasts were very average in both quality and variety. Although the staff were very helpful and friendly I would not be able to recommend the hotel until modernisation had been completed and the standard of the cuisine raised. The village of Mondello, where the hotel is located about 15 km from Palermo, has a serious litter/dog fouling problem in the streets/pavements, foreshore and beach, not helped during our visit by a strike by the refuse disposal service resulting in numerous large piles of rotting, smelly rubbish throughout the Palermo area. Overall, Mondello has an unkempt down at heel atmosphere, the weeds, broken paving and potholes vying with the litter for space, in what was clearly a charming fishing village in years past.

Pros: Location, great restaurants within walking distance, friendly management staff
Cons: Lacks electrical outlets in your room, needs recarpeted, painted, etc.
Location: Excellent for walking, driving your car, taking public transportation to Palermo, etc. Also close to airport.
My husband and I just returned from staying here on vacation. For our purposes and for the price, it worked well for us. The location is superb; close to public transportation; parking available; excellent restaurants, etc. within easy walking distant; right on the sea. This property could use a refurbish (carpet replacement, some upgrading/updating) along with more electrical outlets now that we are all in the computer age. However, I still would recommend.

nice location 30 yrs agoPosted Oct 14, 2012 on Hotels.com
hotel tries but misses the mark, in need of updating, to much money for a hotel in this condition, pictures on site deceiving, what hotel could look like if maintained properly, would not go back
It was wonderful!Posted Oct 9, 2012 on Hotels.com
We stayed for 4 days October 2012. It was very clear that everyone has a lot of pride in this hotel. The staff was great. The restaurant across the parking lot has wonderful food as a change of pace to dining in the hotel. The included breakfast is yummy and everything you could want, I especially like the coffee with a hint of chocolate! Views were spectacular and the pool and patios were lovely. This is an older hotel, lovingly maintained and shows herself as the Grand Dame she is. We will be staying there again.

a week to do nothing!Posted Sep 27, 2012 on Hotels.com
Mondello, lovely location though I get the feeling it is faded a bit than in its heydey., sea right at small piazza, fishing boats everywhere, lots of lovely restaurants all doing varieties of fish dishes..As far as the hotel is concerned its location is splendid, based on the side of the cliff, seawater in the long clean pool, lovely staff and most helpful for anything ( we had lost our luggage!) but the interior of the hotel throughout the four floors could do with an uplift, new carpeting, fresh painting etc. Breakfast substantial choice and served up to 10.30am.

Probably the worst 4star I've stayed in Italy .the only reediming feature was the very pleasant receptionist.the room was clean and the bed comfortable but view was into a dirty courtyard.the carpets along the corridors need to be replaced.breakfast was adequate.not worth the tariff or rating!
