I did like the Riu and found that all the employees try to make your stay enjoyable, everyone was very pleasant and always willing to help. My room had a great view and found none of the comments I had read about before I went were founded. The buffet was excellent but was quite disappointed in the other restaurants outside the buffet, especially the Italian one. The service was excellent but the food was not. Our room was made up every day very early in the morning which I loved and then again after dinner which is nice especially after taking showers from being in the water all day. I did enjoy my stay but probably will not come to Aruba again not because of anything but the windy weather. We could not stay at the beach because of sand blowing in your face and actually stinging. I understand from other people who have been there before it was a bad week for wind.

Ate at the hotel restaurant 5 times-3 breakfasts and 2 dinners. First night a quick pizza that was 12$,a little bland but ok and may be enough to feed 2 people. The 2nd night (eating late at 9pm) I had the all-you-can-eat grouper special about 25$ and it was terrific. Breakfast for me was about 20$ each morning and worth it. Bacon, eggs, belgian waffles all made well along with a large fresh fruit bowl that I loved. The pools are large and seem great for families. The business center didn't work too well for me. The picture showed 3 computers to use but there were only 2, one was unplugged and the other was frozen. Overall good place to stay and would stay there again if I got a good price.

We've been to Aruba four or five times and have stayed downtown and at big Palm Beach hotels. The Brickell was a pleasant surprise. If an ocean view and a newer property are your priority, then avoid. But if service, value and a less crowded experience are important then book it. I don't think you'll be disappointed. We felt at home for the five days we were guests and would stay there again.

We had amazing vacations at Divi Phoenix despite there were renovations on the second floor and it was very noisy.
Free cocktails not so good, but at least they were free. Otherwise everything was very good

Aruba is a beautiful place! !
Occidental is a nice hotel . If you have the money stay at the Royal club, I did it and it was so worth it. When you get there you go straight up to the nine floor to a private check in!! dining is way better. You get first choice for reservations to their specialty restaurants, room service, your room is cleaned twice a day!!.
For breakfast you go up to the restaurant in the nine floor with a beautiful view to the ocean!!. If they don't have what you want at the buffet they will make it for you. If you go to Aruba the Royal club at occidental is there way to go!!

Fresh Fruit beside the pool and ocean
Sample the drink of the day passed around
Popsicles passed around
Cool Sented face towels passed around
Free use of sports equipment
The room temp says 66 but feel warm than 66. Plus they have a down comforter. Not good for us women
The wind was so strong that we had to lay near the pool instead of the beach. The pool is lovely. I just like to look at the ocean when I'm in Aruba. The sand was to hard to fight.
As always Arubas good outweighs any bad I can think of. It's our home away from home. The friendliest island!!

The question on Palm Beach is this: lounge or live large? There’s a reason the major resorts and clubs are located near these calm waters. The beach is an ideal place to do absolutely nothing, with a cold drink in hand. There’s also swimming, golf, horseback riding, ATV rentals, and plenty of water sports.
