Not the Zen/health resort it is advertised as

Posted Sep 15, 2014
Pros: Location, location, location
Cons: Soundproofing between the rooms.
Location: The ocean is magnificent here--clean, clear, and welcoming. There are so many great dining choices. City Place nearby has many good choices.
I looked for the Yoga salon that they advertise, bit it's now the gift shop. Hotel is definitely dark in an attempt for tranquility. The walls are very thin and there is no soundproofing at all. The staff is wonderful and could not be more attentive. The location is also perfect with all the amenities one expects on the ocean. Palm Beach is also a great environment for runners/bikes with well established routes. If I were to go back a corner room is a must, hopefully more peaceful.

stay away

Posted Sep 15, 2014
Pros: nothing
Cons: Room...the bed was ok. That's all. Shower was the worst ever. No pressure. Even had problem rinsing soap out of my hair. Noise everywhere at 5AM.
TERRIBLE...VERR NOISEY room from people in hall and partying going on at 5 AM in courtyard by my window. Alarm clock was set by others to wake me up @ 5am. Since I was not going o my 9 to 5 job, I was trying to sleep in...NO WAY!!

Could have been great

Posted Sep 3, 2014
The Omphoy is a good hotel...that could be a great hotel. It's attention to detail that separate the good from the great, and Omphoy just isn't there. Front desk staff was pleasant, but reservations had put me in the wrong room, and all the front desk did was apologize. The room (and the view) were lovely..clean, well appointed..but the cold water handle on the bathroom sink kept falling off and the a/c unit made a loud humming noise constantly. When I mentioned this at checkout, i was told that maintenance would get right on it --nice for the next occupant but too little too late for me. The hotel staff was inconsistent...The car attendants and restaurant staff were excellent--couteous, and attentive. When I stopped at the Spa, however, the woman behind the desk was too busy texting to acknowledge that I was standing 2 feet in front of her. I said "hello"...and she texted on...It was one of the strangest interactions (or lack of) that I have ever had in a hotel. This said, the overall experience was good..Beautifully appointed hotel, lounge, restaurant, rooms...lovely setting (right on the beach), but something was missing. I felt the most of staff has been trained to say and do the "right" thing, but that isn't always what solves the customers issue. Better luck next time.

Nice idea, poorly executed - bring your flashlight

Posted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Great view (if you have ocean front). Restaurant was nice, but expensive for what they offer.
Cons: Get a project manager who knows how to execute a good plan, get the renovation completed as it should be, train the staff, get the lighting fixed, ...
Location: Beach. Skip the breakfast there and drive to the local French restaurant for the best breakfast.
Nicely remodeled hotel with high aspiration that did not quite make it. The front desk staff are adequately polite, but not well trained (e.g. I had to redo my keys as a room was inside another room and they did not know how to handle that) and the guy next to me was upset as he was there 6 times. Then you get to your floor off the elevator and cannot see a thing for a few minutes as the dark brown hallways, with brown signs on brown background, with clashing yellow and white lights had already made you blind. Eventually you can find your room and get used to it. The games did not all work. Lots of dents in hallways once your eyes get used to darkness. Beach is nice, but not enough umbrellas (or towels). We were ignored for over an hour, but the guy was pretty polite. Did not like forced valet parking at $27/day plus tip each time you want to get your car. The place lends itself for self-parking.

Hi Traveler, Thanks for your comment and rating. Sounds like a mix bag of experiences. We're working on the lighting issue, you're right, way too dark. Also, we'll be adding more beach chairs and umbrellas as well. I'll be sure to pass on your feedback to my Beach Supervisor, that's not cool. As for parking, we do charge for Valet and it is consistent with all Hotels on the island. Cheers, Abe Liao General Manager

Look elsewhere at another hotel

Posted Aug 30, 2014
Pros: The staff were ok all beit they were new and inexperienced.
Cons: Change the colour of the walls from choc brow, coffee and useable fridge in room. Ice machine on floor. More lighting.
Location: Good location
Dark dingy rooms far too much effort trying to be trendy rather than practicle and useable. Chocolate brown everything including the walls with the travellers immediate needs over looked. Ice, coffee etc only available on room service. Tiny fridge for exclusive use of hotel products and if you remove you will be charged. Ist floor restaurant too dark to see the menu much less your food. Valet parking $27 very frustrating when you can see your car 200 ft away, just a revenue grab.

Hi Terry, Thanks for your comment. YIKES, sorry to hear about your experience. I can understand your frustration with things like ice. We're working on getting ice machines in the Hotel hallways. Unfortunately, previous management wanted it this way. The Hotel has gone under new management recently and there are quite a few items being looked at. Coffee is available complimentary daily in the Hotel Lobby. As for parking, we charge for valet only service which is consistent with all Hotels on the island. Cheers, Abe Liao General Manager

Deception in Advertising

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Cons: The cushions on the patio smell like cat pee.... I suggest they be changed.
Location: Worth Avenue, and Chesterfield Hotel Lounge and Restaurant - a mainstay on the island.
If you love your pool in the middle of the parking lot, this is the place for you. Infiniti pool is what was advertised, which means it looks out over the water, correct? You actually have to cross the valet parking area to get to this pool, which has high cement walls around it. Additionally, the room was freezing when we arrived, and the floors are bare, the wood is all dark, and there are Plantation Shutters - so if you love hotels for that super dark, blacked out shaded feel, it was nearly accomplished when the sun wasn't blazing in. Not at all what I was hoping for.. kind of saw myself sitting in a pool, by the beach, not the Boulevard. Oh, and your personal server while poolside - that's because there's only one guy in the pool. As far as the beach service - I'm still not over my parched throat and I left 36 hours ago. Major thumbs down.

Hi Sheep, Thanks for your review. I am so sorry to hear about your experience and feel bad you left disappointed. In reference to the pool, the "infinity" term is in regards to the style of pool. As in it has no edge to it giving it a clean sleek appearance, versus what you would see in a residential setting. The shutters do slide from side to side, allowing full light to enter the room. I am sorry about your experience with our poolside service. I will certainly pass this feedback along to the team. Hopefully you'll give us another try. We are under new management effective November 1. Cheers, Abe Liao General Manager
