Perfectly acceptable

Inexpensive, reasonably fresh, pool a little noisy with kids but it is Palm Springs. Slept well, no problems - I however do not like their policy of charging a $100 deposit ??? why? They have your credit card number. I have never been charged a hotel deposit before. I did find that annoying as though they didn't trust me not to trash the room - in which case $100 wouldn't have covered much.

The Caliente Tropics Hotel is an excellent value and location in Palm Springs. We couldn't have asked for a more comfortable room!

Poor service

Posted Jun 29, 2015
I believe the employees name was Mayra. She ruined my experience. She was rude unprofessional and had no customer service skills.I asked for towels and she suggested I go get them from the cleaning staff, she also kept confusing the hotel information by saying my name wasn't on the room reservation. She called me very disrespectfully indicating I only had a one night reservation and demanded I come back and get my belongings or they were going to take them out of my room, she told me I needed to call Expedia and figure it out. She had poor listening skills and did not allow me to speak. The hotel environment is beautiful but because of the way treated me I would never stay at this hotel again. The hiring staff really needs to evaluate who they allow on their team.

Quick vacation

Posted Jun 25, 2015
My boyfriend and I went for a quick 2 day vacation to Palm Springs! The pool is nice, however there is No shade near pool! Pool has too much chlorine! More than any pool I've been in! The first night the lights turned off around 10. We still swam in the dark for an hour! The second, we had to ask for them to turn lights on! Maintenance had to switch on power breaker to turn on jets in hot tub! There is no restaurant or bar. The wifi is slow! This is not a resort kind of hotel! They are doing construction and the room right next to the one we stayed in was being renovated and we were woken up at 9am due to the noise! I would recommend asking for a room that isn't near construction! it's also a pain to have to go to the check in desk every time you want a pool towel! If you want to save a buck and stay at a place with little amenities then this place is good! The air conditioning was amazing! It was over 110 and our room was always cool! Staff is really friendly and nice! The architecture is cool and they have a Polynesian theme with tiki torches and Polynesian statues.

Budget hotel for someone that wants to get away.

This place is really nothing more than a cheap two story motel with a nice pool area and good beds. The room was not cleaned well. Regardless of the cost of a room these days there's no excuse for finger prints on doors and furniture that looks like nothing more than a wet cloth has been used to clean up the last guests drink spills. The pool area was no better and in fact it is not cleaned nightly. This combined with very relaxed pool rules ( or completed lack there of), resulted in a tippy toe dance through cigarette buts and empty drink bottles to get into water that had leaves and other debris. This is a real shame because the pool area has quite a resort feel with its palm trees and green area and distinguishes the hotel from other hotels in the area at similar price points. There's been some effort to renovate but not enough to eliminate the feel of an old place that's not kept up on a daily basis. .

Couldn't ask for worse customer service

Posted Jun 22, 2015
Cons: Customer service and up-front explanation about the towel policy.
Our actual stay at the hotel was not completely unpleasant, although after one night both room keys were deactivated and we had to wait in line for ten minutes to get back into our rooms. Upon check in, we were told nothing about a policy with the hotel pool towels, so that evening we asked for four. We gave our room number (which should have been our first clue) and proceeded to use all four towels throughout the entire weekend, leaving them in our room when we left. Two days later, there was an unexplained $80 charge on my credit card. When I attempted to call the hotel to discuss the charge, I reached the hotel voicemail. I left a message, then emailed. I received a prompt response explaining the charge was for four hotel towels that were checked out under our room and never returned. Unaware of the policy (as we were not informed upon checking out the towels), I emailed back and explained the misunderstanding, asking if the charges could be reversed as the towels had not left the premises. I waited all day for a call back, called twice more, and did not hear anything until the next morning when someone finally picked up the phone. I was told they were "investigating the matter" and since the rule was explained in their hotel policy, which was 4 pages long and signed upon check-in, there was nothing they could do. Long story short, the manager took all day to get back to me and was extremely rude, barely listening to what I had to say. I'm out $80 and will never go back.

OK place

Pros: Tiki style, nice pool, view, 60s look. Key card entry. Keys were better.
Cons: Update plumbing . carpets, furnishings
Location: Appetito nearby
I noticed several keyless card entries were spotty in working. Several people's not working. Mine was weird.
