Very Relaxing

Posted Feb 16, 2015
Pros: Was quiet and relaxing even though it was fairly close to downtown Palm Springs.
Cons: Pool seating if you want to spend relaxing/swimming at the pool.
Location: Great location to down town and many other attractions.
Accommendations, food, location and staff were very good/excellent. Could use more seating around the pool, if you did not get your seat early you probably would not get one, However it was valentines weekend which might have been the problem. I definitly would stay here again.

A perfect jewel of a place...

Posted Feb 15, 2015
Pros: Pool lounge/area; free coffee/newspapers by the pool; comfortable rooms; caring; friendly and totally professional staff. Location and price!
Cons: Need firmer mattresses. Stayed here twice and will be back again- but wish they could get better beds!
Location: Three minute walk to the Thursday night craft/food street festival and the antique/nostalgia show first Sunday of every month... Good food/shoppig
Totally love this place... Everything about it! Welcoming reception area. Thoughtful, pleasant staff. Intimate, small and relaxed hotel. Solid restaurant- and very reasonably priced and eclectic food options. Good spa service. Wonderful pool area. Perfect location- walking distance to a range of moderate to high-end restaurants, shopping and antiques. Built in the 1930s and beautifully updated and maintained. Very reasonably priced- great value here.

Love Palm Springs

Posted Feb 8, 2015
Loved this hotel much better then the Viceroy. The restaurant was beautiful!! Has been re-done. The food good. Maybe not great. But very cozy. Everyone soooo friendly. The rooms just the right size. The best jacuzzi I have ever been in. Truly won't stay any place else next time I am in Palm Springs!!

Quaint hotel in excellent location.

Pros: good location very good staff some excellent dishes nice pool great hot tub
Location: whatever palm springs offers is handy
Lovely enclosed oasis with lounge chairs, pool and dining area, close to main strip in Palm Springs. Excellent bar/dining staff. Front desk helpful. Our one king bedroom was on the 2nd level. I found it dark and rather dank, (interesting because this is the desert) so hard to tell if it was particularly clean. Also the walls must be paper thin....;) I think Colony Palms can really rock in high season. Thankfully in January it was slow and quiet. The pool appears clean; it was too cold to swim. Thank goodness for the great hot tub. It claims to have a 'Moroccan feel'. Excellent food. I would recommend the lamb and the butternut squash. You can walk anywhere from here. I cannot give it a 4 star because of the room. It just so slightly made me squeamish.

Classic Palm Springs

Posted Jan 15, 2015
Pros: restaurant and bathroom amenities. Huge spacious bath. Lovely court/garden/pool.
Cons: Small work desk in room to do email, etc.
Really nicely updated and maintained. Staff very friendly, helpful. Erin in the restaurant was fantastic. Food is very good, creative. Drinks are generous as were wine pours. Got a great deal from Expedia. Great stay.

Tranquil... if You Are Away From The Pool

Posted Jan 1, 2015
Pros: Beautiful. Charming. Peaceful.... If you aren't given a room around the very loud pool area.
Cons: lose the music. Stop trying to compete with Hard Rock Hotel. Stop trying to be hipper than you actually are. Trust the peace and quiet of Palm Springs
Location: If you like shopping for Knicks-knacks and furniture, then there is tons to do nearby. If you like peace and quiet, don't get a room by the pool.
Looking at the photos online of Colony Palms actually does no justice to the beauty and tranquility of this hotel. They need a professional photographer to come in and capture the magic of this wonderful space. CP is a beautiful estate lined with romantic corners, fine service and great little nooks of privacy scattered throughtout. Upon arrival, My girlfriend and I could not believe the sheer beauty of the place and of course, the fantastic room we stayed in. Clean, spacious and refined. Sure, the tiny refrigerator didn't provide enough space and the $85 price tag to simply use one of the two plush robes hanging in the bathroom was beyond ridiculous. Still, the experience was a good one. HOWEVER, the big problem with this hotel is that is suffers from wanting to be way too trendy. I doubt very much that the original owners back in 1936, ever wanted a booming sound system to be emanating around the pool area from 11am to 11pm, even on Sunday. I was shocked to find that, while trying to relax on a plush lawn chair at the pool, the music was so loud that I couldn't hear my own headphones. To add insult to injury, the music being played was music I already own. I didn't fly 3000 miles from the bass pounding streets of New York City to arrive at a spa hotel, only to be listening to music I bought ten years ago: Bjork, The Chillout Album, Mazy Star and a few other throwbacks really killed the experience. I came for the peace of the desert, not the sounds and beats of the city.

Go for the restaurant ambience

Posted Dec 15, 2014
Had a wonderful dinner at the outside bar of Purple Palm restaurant our first night: Food, wine, ambience, and William our bartender made it memorable. The Purple Palm restaurant is the best asset of the hotel - the streamed music is very cool as is the ambience outside. Scott at the front desk was welcoming and very attentive, great people skills. Valets were kind and cheerful. Location is good for walking around downtown. But the rooms do not match the website pictures. Disappointing. The rooms are tired and need updating. Also, on our second day a couple of the staff had attitudes which is always a bummer in the service industry.

Nice retreat in the midst of Palm Springs

Posted Nov 19, 2014 on Hotels.com
Colony Palms is a centrally located hotel in Palm Springs with pretty grounds and a bohemian vibe. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. We ate at the Purple Palm for both breakfast and dinner. The food and service was excellent though it's a bit pricey. Front desk reception was cordial. We really enjoyed our stay here and would return if in the area.
