Good value in Palm Desert

Posted Jan 9, 2015
Pros: Good value for money in a winter resort.
Cons: Like all hotels, I wish that internet access was less expensive or free. If Starbucks and McDonald's can give free internet, why not hotels?
Location: Living Desert, Desert Willow Golf Resort (country club quality for better prices).
This is the second time we have stayed at Embassy Suites Palm Desert while visiting family and were satisfied both times. The grandkids especially like the full breakfast (omelets, eggs and/or pancakes to order) included in the room price. When we visited in late summer, 2011, we often ate outside, but it was a bit too cool this trip. As of Dec., 2014 there is a major reconstruction which will update every room, so at the point of our stay the rooms just below us were part of the construction zone (thus the 3 for facilities). The staff was good about making up for the inconvenience and the construction mostly happened while we were out. We will no doubt stay at this hotel in the future.

Needs help

Posted Jan 5, 2015
Surly front desk staff, unpredictable hot water, broken heat, lack of towels and linens, uncleaned rooms. In a nutshell, this room's facilities were in poor order and the staff showed little interest in making our stay comfortable. Breakfast was good though.

The room was not cleaned until close to 4pm , then it was basically drop off towels & make bed. The heating unit was loud and the room never really got warm, Everything in breakfast room barely hot, room was cold, 1st morning was 32 degrees & staff cleaning the door windows while having door open the whole time.

Wait for the renovations

Posted Jan 2, 2015
Pros: Sonoma restaurant. The fact that there is a bathroom and another dressing area
Cons: Condition of room
Location: Close to what we did...golf, golf and more golf
In all fairness the hotel is going thru renovations. However the rooms' electrical outlets were dangerous. Loose plug outlet that became disconnected if touched while no where to plug in the lamp on one side of the bed. Not a particular bright room and could stand for a sound barrier between rooms. The food at Sonoma restaurant was good and the made to order "free" breakfast was also good. For our stay, this was way overpriced.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
There where ants in the bathroom, you can hear everything from the guest above you, just them flushing the toilet sounds like its right next to you.

Old but still clean and quiet

Posted Dec 19, 2014
Pros: Location was very quiet. Hotel was clean. Dog area was a large grassy lawn. The location is conveniently close to El Paseo.
Cons: Maybe replace some doors, like our bathroom door, which was cracked on the bottom due to water damate
Location: Close to El Paseo, very easy to find and drive to and from.
The hotel was in the midst of a remodel but we were not inconvenienced in any way. Our room had new carpet and paint. The bottom of the bathroom door was water damaged and cracked, though this was painted over. The bed linens and comforter were clean, carpet was new and clean. There as an area in the living room with sink, fridge and microwave. Also a vanity area in the bedroom with another sink and well lit mirror. Plenty of closet space and a tv in the bedroom and living room. Living room had round table with wooden chairs, coffee table, sofa bed and comfy chair. Bathroom was very small and toilet was set crooked, so you were tilted to one side when you sat on it. All the hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. The location was very quiet. Also my small dog stayed at the hotel and I paid $75 for this but it worked out less expensive than having a free dog at La Quinta. Would stay here again.

Old run down and dirty.

Posted Dec 10, 2014
The hotel is old and run down. The staff is fairly unprofessional and not friendly. They like to stare at their computer at the front desk and not acknowledge your prescence when checking-in, walking by or asking a question. It's good the hotel is embarking on a $10 million renovation. I hope it includes a staff upgrade. Room was in fair shape, bed and pillows were uncomfortable, dirt and old food behind the couch, torn towels, remote and tv's not working properly, food was disgusting for breakfast. The fruit had spoiled from being used to many times. The cook will only give you more bacon or sausage if you tip him. Having stayed at several Embassy Suites this one will NOT get a second chance even with the upgrade!

Hotel is worn out

Posted Nov 30, 2014
This hotel is worn out and needs attention rooms are worn and dated not super clean walls are thin you can hear showers and toilets flushing in other rooms. Breakfast was free but disorganized with tables dirty ,food ran out no mugs for coffee etc. I have stayed at embassy suites many times and this was the worst ever. It will change my mind on staying with this brand of hotels again
