Built in 1957 by actors/producers Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball as a star-studded weekend getaway, the Indian Wells Resort Hotel is spread over four acres near the Santa Rosa foothills. Downtown Palm Springs is within 16 miles.

A complimentary Continental breakfast that includes breakfast breads, cereals, yogurt, fruit, coffee, tea, and juice is provided each morning in Loren restaurant.

Loren - Mediterranean-influenced decor, with views of the lobby grotto and outdoor pool. Full breakfast menu available. Continental cuisine. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner served.

Frank's Place - Sports bar located off the lobby. Fireplace. Large flat-screen TV. A happy hour is provided each evening from 4:30 PM-6 PM (hours subject to change without notice). Live entertainment Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 6 PM - 9:30 PM (September through May). Open from late afternoon to late evening.

Palm Terrace - Poolside bar overlooking the 11th green of Indian Wells Country Club. Cocktails, sandwiches, salads, and snacks served. Seasonal hours.

Recreation

Guests enjoy an outdoor pool, spa tub, and two tennis courts. The complimentary fitness center includes two treadmills, two stationary bikes, a stair machine, an elliptical trainer, free weights, a multi-use weight bench, and other equipment. Hotel staff can arrange equipment rentals and tee times for dozens of area courses.

“Not Impressed”

Bed is very old. You can almost feel the coil beneah the sheet. I almost fell down sleeping too close to the edge. The continental breakfast is not good at all.

Area recommendations

Palm Desert is a nice area. We stayed at Westin last time and it was very nice.

“Deluxe Continental Breakfast Saves the Day”

There is little beyond the deluxe continental breakfast that recommends this hotel. Service and rooms were mediocre at best. And my wife and I had a room over looking a parking lot - when I asked for another room I was told I could move the next day but staff did not follow-up. Lower rates .lower quality.

“Excellent hotel at a very economical price”

If you are looking for a nice place to stay close to Palm Springs you won't go wrong in staying here. This hotel is located right at the entrance of a Country Club in Indian Wells. The room was very clean and appeared to be remodeled recently and was large and well furnished. The pool and the spa were very well maintained and it was a delight to be in the spa in the evening. The lobby was inviting and had old pictures of the rich and famous who visited the hotel or performed there. The person at the front desk was very friendly and efficient. A picture of Lucille Ball looks right at you when you register. The free breakfast was in a large dining hall and had a variety of breakfast cereals and muffins. There was adequate parking spaces available. I would definitely stay here again.

Area recommendations

Drive on highway 111 in this town after sunset to see the lighted palm trees and the hotels lit up.

“Excellent Value for the Price AND still most enjoyable!!!!”

We loved the place and were fully satisfied. The listing on Expedia was frankly NOT indicative of the quality we found. I think the hotel could do a better job of presenting themselves on Expedia and on-line in general.

“Hotel good, but sheets and bedspread in room were old and looked dirty.”

Location of the hotel was great. The room smelled a little musty and the bedspread and sheets were old and looked dirty.

“Great place for the price!”

If you are not planning on spending your entire trip in the hotel, this place is fine for the price. Nice pool, cool lobby bar and the rooms were fine. Good location for getting around Palm Desert.

“Not impressed”

The hotel staff was wonderful! Grounds were beautiful and well groomed. The walls are incredibly thin! Bed was uncomfortable. Linens were vey worn. Our blanket was very old...looked like one my grandma had from many decades ago! Lumpy pillows. Sigh!

“would consider buying a home in the area”

location of the resort was excellent. rate on the room was very reasonable, even with our upgrade. happy hour drinks,hordourves ,live music, very impressive. quiet room with view. excellent continental breakfast. my only complaint would be that the expedia representative did not inform us about the resort fees along with telling us that there was a buffet breakfast. however the continental breakfast was more than enough. if expedia can get comparable rates in the future we would definately sign up to stay at the indian wells resort for another get away.. satisfied customer

enjoyed all of the palm springs area. palm springs rancho mirage palm desert indian wells on a clear day, looking up at those mountains is pretty spectacular. my only concern is that the area would be too hot for me in the summer time.

“Wake-up calls not done two consecutive days.”

Lobby, breakfast, location are positives. Linens need to be replaced. Pillows are mediocre. Message desk-phone wake-up is non-existent.
