“Great Place for the Price”
Sanctuary Hotel & Spa, formerly La Toscana, is a quiet comfortable hotel down the street from Desert Hot Springs Spa. It has one large mineral pool and two smaller mineral pools that you can lounge in. The rooms are comfortable and clean but, nothing matches because they are remodeling the hotel; thus, the room price per night is greatly discounted. If you want a nice quiet place to stay a night while you are awaiting Spa treatments at another facility this place is perfect.
“A bit of a drive, but well worth it!”
The staff was very friendly and accomadating. The resort is currently remolding the restaurant, but still able to serve continental breakfast. Away from the mainstream Palm Springs downtown, but a nice scenic drive.
“good hotel”
hotel is beautiful, but the service should be promoted.
“On a dime, not so bad. Got some cash, go elsewhere.”
Just a low-rent place. Building was under construction but some things shouldn't need repair. Little things like blinds, screens on windows, leaky faucets. Reminded me of places I've stayed around the world, in 3rd world countries. That being said, the beds were clean, the shower worked, and they let me stay a couple hours after check-out without extra $$. Wouldn't wanna stay there again, but if you're on a tight budget, it works.
“Go back when they're done remodelling.”
Pool was very nice, hot tubs huge and relaxing. They had really nice lounge chairs and quick towel service. Restaurant and bar are not open, because they are renovating them. Room had a dead roach in the corner and a creepy room with a spa that was locked. I love the idea of the in room spa, if it had been working, so if that's part of their remodel it will be awesome. Bed was comfy, staff was friendly, food ran out quick at the breakfast, so we ended up with toast. We just wanted to hang out in a clean warm pool and sit in front of some powerful jacuzzi jets, both of which were great here.
“Stay away from Desert Hot Springs”
Don't let the words "sanctuary", "resort", or "spa" fool you. This place was a dive. I was under the impression that the place was cheep because it was "under renovation." That's half true, it was under renovation, but the place was a dive nonetheless. I discovered after-words that Desert Hot Springs has the largest concentration of parolees and ex-cons than anywhere else in California. There's also a a high amount of gang activity. I honestly felt scared staying at this hotel! If you do check in, make sure you check in early -- there will most definitely be something wrong with your room and you're more likely to have it rectified if you're the first to check in. Every time I passed through the lobby, I heard someone complaining about their room. Originally I was given a room key to a supply closet! I'm not kidding! Although the area was dangerous, and the hotel a bit of a slum, there were some positives. The clerk at the front desk, although ill-informed, was still accommodating. The rooms obviously hadn't been remodeled in maybe 4 decades, but as my wife said, at least there weren't any cockroaches. The pool was functional, but slightly dirty, so I wouldn't recommend going in. All in all the hotel wasn't terrible, the worst part was simply the bad neighborhood.
“Learn from your experiences”
The hotel has lots of potential. The room itself was nice. Bed was comfortable. The bathroom wasnt as clean as I would expect a hotel bathroom to be. The shower didnt have any hot water. Could only take luke warm shower. Pool wasnt heated and the hot tub needed to be cleaned
“buget hotel”
hotel was opend during the remodeling, nobody told us before we made our reservation, thats only the part i didnt like, pool relaxing, people friendly.
“Last Resort”
Basic low budget hotel in the desert. Ok for the price but would not stay there again unless that was the only choice.
“Worse hotel in history”
This was awful!!!! i plead with expedia to never suggest this hotel to any other guest; i could not even stay; i flew from jackson, MS to palm springs for a long weekend get away and wanted only the best; thankfully i only paid for one night with my package, otherwise this could have been to worse vacation in history. . .
