Centric small hotel

Pros: Its central location.
Location: Plenty of restaurants, other hotels casinos, banks, malls...
Nice centric hotel. Big rooms, comfortable, clean. Wifi was not working in the room, but it did in the lobby. Buffet breakfast options are limited, but can do for a quick and simple breakfast before taking off. The staff was kind and willing to help, although not always achieving it.

Cute Place To Stay

Pros: We had a very comfortable room and it was big too. We had all our breakfasts there. The dinner was delicious.
Location: We could easily walk to the Metro system and to the Mall where we caught the Hop On Hop Off. We could walk to restaurants and felt very safe.
The hotel was located in a busy high rise area, but easy to walk to restaurants and the Metro and walkway along the ocean. It was easy to take a taxi. We took the Hop On Hop Off to see the area easily. We signed ourselves up for most activities - on live using our own computer. The Hotel could have been a little more helpful.

Central to Everything

Pros: Location, price and ambiance, large rooms and colonial style.
Cons: Restaurant.
Location: In the banking area, shopping and large hotels close, lots of tours available.
We really enjoyed our stay. The staff was very helpful and the hotel is central to everything. Taxis are not expensive so shopping and tours are handy. The only thing that wasn't as good as expected was the restaurant. It was slow and empty. Room service was better. Would return and recommend to others.

Cons: Nothing significant
Location: Downtown. Walk to supermarket. Walking distance to some restaurants.
Room is big, comfortable, clean. Breakfast is good. Every taxi driver knew the hotel. We walked to supermarket, nearby restaurants. Area seems safe and quiet.

Great find in the middle of the city.

Pros: Food, service and location.
Cons: Noting of any importance. Perhaps a microwave in the dinning room for breakfast. An ice machine on one of the floors would be a plus.
Location: From this location, you can take a taxi to the old city, the canal, the very creative bio museum (Frank Gehry designed it). Near Gamboa National Park.
Couldn't be more pleased with the courtesy and friendliness of the hotel. The room we had was comfortable and quiet. Breakfast as fine. The hotel restaurant was "fantastico." We dined there on Valentine's Day. Five course meal with superb food and presentation. Could not ask for more in a small hotel in a large and busy capital city and financial hub of Panama.

The hotel was charming, and the restaurant was good. The room was comfortable and nicely furnished. The air conditioning didn't work well, wasn't adjustable and was leaking from our bathroom ceiling (we had small puddles on the floor which made them very slippery). We mentioned the problem at the front desk, but it wasn't fixed during our stay. The night staff at the hotel does not speak English.

Pros: The character. It looked old but preserved. We later found out it was only about 15 yrs old.
Cons: Allowing for earlier than 7am breakfasts.
Location: Downtown near other large hotels. Casino in Hilton , shopping mall, waterfront are all w/I walking distance.
We arrived early (late morning) for a 1 night stay. The receptionist and cleaning staff worked hard to enable us to get in our room asap. Check in time isn't officially until 4pm. After only about a 20 min. wait, we were able to get to our room. Receptionist was also very helpful in telling us places we could walk to, and securing transportation for us to the airport.

Nice hotel with mediocre restaurant.

Pros: The front desk was helpful and efficient. Enjoyed the artwork in the lobby. The room was large and comfortable.
Cons: The maid service. Don't take towels that are hanging on the racks if they cannot be replaced or items of personal use.
Location: Nothing within walking distance. It's a car congested and trash littered city with not much to offer beyond the interest of the canal.
Panama City is not a city for pedestrians. Sidewalks are in poor repair and there is trash everywhere. Very busy streets which are difficult to traverse. The De Ville is centrally located, but due to the unfavorable walking conditions, you must take a taxi to everything. One evening we decided to eat at the hotel restaurant because we were tired of taking taxis. While edible, the food is bland and expensive. The service was terrible. The hotel itself is nice, but the room we stayed in had the windows blocked by a building next door. This did not bother me, but it makes it impossible to determine the weather outside. However, I was bothered by the fact that coffee makers were provided, along with coffee, but no filters! We asked for, and received, 3 filters which were removed by the maid service that very afternoon along with a travel pack of facial tissues that were on the bedside table. Lightly soiled face and hand towels were removed and not replaced. When asked at the front desk, we were told the hotel was out of the towel and we wouldn't get a fresh supply for several days. We would have continued to use the lightly soiled ones had they not been removed. Never got the coffee filters replaced and this probably annoyed me the most. Honestly, why provide coffee and coffee makers without the filters? Minor annoyances, but annoying nonetheless.
