A good value if you don't need luxury.

Pros: value
Cons: chairs in pool area
Location: There is much to explore in the city, and there is a very good shopping area for groceries and essentials across the street.
Good security and adequate accommodations. If you define value as amenities divided by cost, it comes out well. The breakfasts were nutritious and adequate - with good coffee. They do, however, need to purchase more usable chairs for the pool area. There was actually only one good chaise up there at the rooftop pool.

Good value hotel and location,clean room

Pros: We had a newly renovated room that was very nice.
Cons: Get a shower bye the pool and clean up the toilets too.
Location: Short taxi fare to old Panama.
This hotel gets bus loads of families with children involved in sports.Lucky for us,we checked in minutes before.The hotel is in a good location,near the REY store and some restaurants.Pool on the roof is OK

The experience was bad, when you arrive there was no electricity (it was not their fault), but had no power plant so we had to climb to the second floor by the stairs. When I get electricity, air conditioning and room did not work, the beds were moving place, etc. They have a bar upstairs, but does not work. A Casino where comes all sorts of people. The breakfast was not nice, had rice is not how, chicken wings in red sauce, egg, all you can eat was bread with butter and coffee.

Cons: Towels at the pool. We had to call 3 times. As system is neede, getting the room number, and giving the employee name night help
Yes, the place it a bit run down...what most bothered us was on Expedia it read $52 a night for up to four people. I entered 2 adults and two kids, updated, and still $52. After I entered in the credit card, it revealed $89...,be aware! However, due to Lily, at the front desk, it was well worth the money. She broke the rules by kindly checking us in early, in a quiet room. Management did enter our room I'm the night, as they were checking, ?, as we were not on the books,? then in the morning the same man who had entered our room was waiting at the breakfast buffet to beg foregivness. The doorman, sorry I don't have his name, gives out great information, clear and exactly what we were looking for - a cheap, quick place to eat. We had 3 meals at the corner shop/restaurant. Great advice! The kindness of the employees made all the difference.

Don't go unless you carry a portable printer

Afternoon manager said I had to present printed proof of reservation to get expedia prepaid room. He refused looking at smartphone's reservation confirmation. Had me 20 minutes waiting and, finally, had someone else take care of me. They said didn't find the reservation althogh was made several hours ago.

Would never go back to this place

The hotel did not look like the pictures and is located in a rough neighborhood. It was very loud outside our room and made it hard to sleep. The roof was leaking in our room. Breakfast was included however it was below average compared to several other hotels we stayed at.

Good place to stay if you just need basic amenity

Pros: As mentioned above, the serving staff in the dining room. Location of hotel was convenient to attractions in town.
Cons: Responsiveness of staff to requests for clean towels. Had to call quite a few times before someone picked up.
Location: Hotel Soloy is in Panama City's main hotel district. There are many shops and restaurants within a four to five block radius.
Recommended from past experience in living in Panama. Experience this time was a little different. Booked hotel for large convention. Hotel was quite busy and as a result, some things suffered. Wifi was rarely available - even at 2 to 3 am - number of access points needs to be increased. Rooms have no irons or ironing boards, usually a standard item in other hotels. Iron brought to our room leaked like a sieve, stained some of our good clothes. Lighting in foyer/closet area bad, could not see into closet to select clothing for each day's events. Incessant noise from nightclubs across street, noise from neighboring guests penetrated walls a little too easily. Parking was awkward, had to park two blocks down from the hotel and walk through some unsavory areas to get back to the hotel. Breakfast was excellent - good, traditional food served up by pleasant, professional staff. One of the waiters was a very nice older gentleman from the same part of La Chorrera as my wife's family. He was a sincere pleasure to talk to. Interaction with him alone made the stay at the hotel worthwhile. Check-in and check-out was a bit cumbersome as reception was a little unfamiliar with an Expedia prepaid reservation. Overall experience was pleasant. As far as hotels go, the Soloy is a bit above average. The adjoining casino I feel brings in a majority of their revenue, so they may not feel the need to be five-star with the rooms.
