Hotel Santana is central to the area

Posted Nov 14, 2013
Pros: Clean and central
Cons: the rooms which don't have windows should maybe have better beds or room decore to make up for the lack of a window.
Location: This hotel is located very central in Cosco, easy to walk anywhere, only a couple dollors for a taxi to the new part of Panama, all the ruins are walk
the origanal room #13 that we had was nice! but the air conditioner went and flooded the room, the room we were moved to did not compare to the first room at all. there were no windows, no bed cover and the beds were short. I would only stay again if I got a room with a window. The staff helped us as much as possible but we still encountered one price (booking a tour) quoted by the hotel and a differant price at the tour company. The location is very central to get around Casco, we walked everywhere and always felt safe. With the president living in the area there is a high police and military showing. Every corner has one to twelve officers milling about.

Renovated but in a bad part of town.

Pros: Decent rates but you get what you pay for.
Cons: The hotel needs better beds and working TVs in the rooms.
Location: Great landmarks nearby. Mini Marts and grocery stores. 3-4 blocks away many stores to shop at.
Management is trying to bring more tourists to this part of Panama City but the area is still notorious for drive by shootings and overall not safe. Lots of Police patrolling at all times, though. Rooms are small, windowless and the beds are similar to army bunks with 6 " deep mattresses and flat pillows. The wi-fi is free but server runs slow. Only real amenity is a big screen TV in dining room. Coffee is good but not free. They offer meals but a little pricey for what you get. I'm not afraid of the dark so I was ok with the stay but my family members were totally freaked. Another "pro" is that it's located to lots and lots of shops where you can buy almost anything you need.

In old run down section of city

Staff was nice and helpful. No towels in room both times I stayed. Had to ask for them. Kid toys and candy wrappers under bed. No mattress pads on beds. No complimentary coffee or breakfast. Little high priced for the lack of amenities.

Dont stay in This hotel

Bad hotel; the neighborhood is dangerous and you can not find anything close to the hotel to eat. When I did my reservation was a free shuttle from airport, but DON'T have free shuttle! You have to pay $30,00 by taxi to arrive there plus $30,00 to comeback. Pay attention on this! It not worth!!!

Big dissapointment.

Pros: Not applicable
Cons: Cleanliness of the room. Hotel whereabouts. Lack of a elevator and we got the second floor (Wife is pregnant)
Location: Very dangerous we were adviced not to walk around freely.
The menu is exotic (not even Panamian food), the airport-hotel taxi service they offerred didn't pick me up. I had to pay for a separate Taxi instead and all they were able to say was "We are sorry". There's no elevator (this is a three storage hotel), the room was very dirty (the clean sheet control they had, happened to have some dates around the 2010 timeframe) and sheets had to be changed as there was some blood on those. The hotel is near a very dangerous part of the town, all taxi drivers and locals know this. Even the front-desk advice us not to walk freely on the street because of this and specially avoid doing this during the night. We asked for a big taxi to be provided while checking-out from the hotel, although we asked for this twice (using Spanish and English) the taxi that ended-up arriving was small. And again, we got "we are sorry". This is at most a one star hotel.
