Bad smell

Posted Apr 11, 2014
The hotel has a humid smell. Could be cleaner, the curtains and bed sheets had stains. Room decoration not my favorite, too much orange. Everything in the room was orange.

Try somewhere else.....

Pros: Pool area was very nice, location was safe and easy to walk to casinos and restaurants. Great breakfast buffet.
Cons: Over all cleanliness of room, maid service training and wait staff customer service skills.
Location: Old Town is a must, The fish market, also Isle de Taboga
We stayed at the Riu Plaza in the financial district of Panama City from April 3rd through the 7th. The hotel was chosen due to our participation in an International Living Conference that was hosted there. The appearance of the hotel was nice however the rooms were not very clean. Daily I would have to find a maids cart to get coffee for our in room coffee maker, face towels, which were very hard to find. The ironing board feet were covered with long hair when I pulled it out to use the first time. The glass wall in the bathroom by the toilet had streaks on it and they were not from cleaning. We were on the 29th floor and there were 3 elevators for the top floor that were relatively small for the number of patrons. It took a good 15 minutes to get an elevator and many times they were packed so it took even longer. We paid an extra $xx dollars a day for the Crown Level, which was supposed to have drinks and snacks available along with a Concierge. The girls assigned did their best to ignore us as much as possible. The drinks and snacks were often not available as well. We ate at the restaurant by the pool the first day. The fish was dry and the waiter had no idea what butter was even when using the Spanish word. Drinks at the bar were Very Very expensive. No one speaks English, at least in Mexico they try but in Panama it was not that way. I don't expect to be accommodated on language We did our best at Spanish.

You have to take a taxi to go anywhere. No shops or decent restaurants nearby.

Large, modern hotel in the center of Panama City.

Posted Mar 5, 2014
Pros: The breakfast buffet was excellent, could not have asked for more.
Location: Old town is lovely, the Panama canal is a must. You can take the double-decker hop on hop off bus and it will take you everywhere you want to go.
This is a very large, business hotel in the heart of Panama City. The rooms are nice with very large windows so they are bright and the seating area is nice. The pool area is great and the breakfast could not have been better.

Very nice!

Cons: The staff at the ARTS Restaurant needs to improve on their services assisting their guests needs.
Very nice hotel located in the heart of the city. Cleanliness is A++. Hotel staff was very nice and responded to anything we needed with the exception of the restaurant where we would have our breakfast. Had trouble getting some coffee served. The bar at the pool area was great. Overall, I would definitely return.
