Wonderful hotel

Posted Jan 13, 2015
Pros: Amenities and helpfulness of the staff.
Cons: Getting specific directions to various places in town. Directions tended to be ambiguous, but this had to do more with the town itself.
Location: Location is right on the beach. At high tide, beach is sandy, but at low tide it is very rocky. Panama City is just a 10 minute ride away.
This hotel was an excellent choice for our vacation. Very helpful staff in terms of knowledge and setting up tours. Pools were excellent. Middle days of the week were not very busy so had the place almost to ourselves. Food was excellent in all the restaurants.

Great hotel close to Panama City

Posted Jan 7, 2015
Pros: - the grounds and the pools - the restaurants
Cons: - get rid of bed bugs - try to remove some of those rocks from underwater on the beach to make it more swimable - location close to Panama City
Location: - you can easily go to Panama City or visit the canal - the are other tour options such as visiting the rainforest
I spent a few days for the New Years at the hotel. The rooms are clean, they are all facing the ocean and in the distance you can see the ships waiting to enter the Panama Canal. The hotel grounds are immaculate, among the best I've seen. The pools are great too. The beach isn't great though. People are saying it's too close to the canal and the waters are not clean (which I ignored, I don't think that's an issue) - but at the low tide you can't enter the water because of the rocks (which isn't a problem during high tide). The most annoying thing are the bed bugs.

Good for the beach, a bit far out for the city

Posted Jan 6, 2015
Pros: Pool area and outside facilities; plenty of beds on the beach and by the pool with different areas for shade and sun, as well as an adults only pool.
Cons: Service can be slow, especially outside, and quite a few of the menu items were not in stock.
Location: Nothing to do nearby; it's all about chilling out by the pool, but plenty to do in Panama City and other trips out
This is a nice hotel for a beach holiday, but it is a bit too far out of the city for city sightseeing. It's about 7 or 8 miles from the city, and the only way to get into town is by cab - which is $25 one way (it's $25 when you get a cab back from town too - it's not just the hotel cabs that charge this much). There is no evident public transport, and there is nothing within walking distance (apart from another hotel) so even if you want a bottle of water you're paying minibar prices. In addition, most of the tour companies do not pick up from this hotel, so you have yo make your own way in to the city to meet your tour. However there is a tour operator with a desk in the hotel & they will pick up from here. The pools, beach and outdoor facilities are lovely. There is a good breakfast buffet with a good selection, and the lighthouse restaurant is worth a visit.

Very nice hotel closed to Panama City

Posted Jan 4, 2015
We have spent four days in that very convenient, quiet and comfortable hotel at the beach. The rooms are very nice, the food at the restaurant is very good keeping the local touch. Panama City is closed, so that we were able to visit it very easily. The Canal and its firt lock are also in the nearest area. We attended the New Year party with bossa nova music, fireworks at midnight.... very nice.

Nice pools. Okay service.

Posted Jan 3, 2015
Pros: The pools are nice.
Cons: Rooms need a refresh.
Location: Not much, but the food at the Westin next door is much better than the Intercontinental.
It was fine. The hotel staff is marginally helpful. Sometimes service is off. For example, one time at the pool, a waitress came to take a drink order from us. After taking the order, she disappeared. We never saw her again.

Big hotel away from town.

Posted Jan 2, 2015
Pros: Extensive facilities, good but slow service. Beach is good for shelling but not great for swimming. Kayaking is good as well.
Cons: Many personnel speak little English. Many facilities require extra charges. Internet service is okay in lobby but poor in rooms.
Location: One outside restaurant a short distance away and several others at the Westin nearby. Five or six miles to nearest gas.
Hotel has lovely pools but all but one pool have loud music blaring almost all the time. Food is fair, except for the top of the line restaurant which is very good. Food prices are high. Hotel has lots of nice facilities including volleyball, beach hockey, chess, ping pong and a children's play room.

Gorgeous resort grounds for weekend getaway

Posted Dec 21, 2014
We spent a long weekend at the intercontinental. The resort is located on the beach next to a similar 4 star style Westin. The intercontinental has 3 restaurants, a bar, 2 gift shops, 2 pools, and a beach out back. It is also possible to book tours from the lobby or concierge. The hotel has a dining restaurant, the lighthouse, which is excellent but was only opened 1out of 4 nights that we were there. Luckily, the Westin next door had two fine dining restaurants that were also good that we went to in lieu of the Lighthouse. The lighthouse was the best. The pools on the grounds are great, very clean and well maintained. The beach itself was very rocky and covered with shells. It was nice to walk on with sandles and explore but not a great beach for swimming. There was a mix up with our Expedia reservation where they put us in a room with queen size beds over a king. It took awhile to fix that at the desk. They were helpful after some convincing and put us in the appropriate room. In their elacrity to get that room ready, they did not sweep it and there was sand on the floor on the first night. After that the room was very well maintained. The intercontinental's best asset is its grorgeously landscaped grounds along the beach. I would definitely recommend.

Lindo

Muito bom, porém espacos muito longos sem assistência do spa. Como sua localização é muito afastada do centro, seria muito melhor um sistema de transporte do próprio hotel.
