"Quiet spot off the beaten path."
Loved this hotel. Although it was a 15 minute walk into town, the walk was pleasant, and, when requesting a cab, the drivers were very quick to respond. Didn't partake of spa facilities, but would definitely consider that for another visit. Front desk staff were extremely friendly, and went out of their way to help. There was no charge for left luggage, and they allowed use of shower facilities after checking out and before catching a cab back to David. No restaurant on site, but cereal, fruit, coffee and tea were plentiful for breakfast. Definitely stop by Mike's International Grill for The Hog, or a bowl of deliciously spicey vegetarian chile.

"A great place to stay in Panama City"
This is a great hotel with nice rooms, helpful staff, and a lovely, relaxing pool area. The desk staff helped us with taxis, mail, and was excellent with booking a day tour to a nearby rainforest. The breakfast buffet is not quite gourmet, but definitely above-average. The pool area is a lovely oasis with ample areas in the sun and shade to relax and have a drink. My one quibble with the hotel is that you might wait 20-30 minutes for a drink at the pool bar, even when they're not busy at all. This was our experience all of the four days we were there. I've never seen such slow service anywhere; it was ridiculous. But everything else was nice. The location is excellent, central and convenient to everything, including the new subway line and many good restaurants. It's one of the larger hotels, so all of the taxi drivers know where it is, which is critical in a city with no street addresses! We a had a great trip thanks in large part to this great hotel.

"Nice, quiet resort not too far from everything."
Not one of the nicest beaches in terms of sand quality. Also, the ocean isn't the turquoise blue color like you would find in other tropical locations. When it's low-tide, there are lots of rocks. But you can see the ships in the distance waiting to go through the canal and a few mountains. So, the view is more interesting. It's still nice to be on a beach. They offer FREE kayaking. The ocean is calm there, so it's safe. The pools are excellent. There is a swim-up bar. The hotel is a great facility. Clean, comfortable rooms. The staff is helpful and greets you with a smile. Not all of them speak English, so it wouldn't hurt to brush up on some basic Spanish. The meals are not included and they are expensive, but the food is excellent. There is a nice gift shop for souvenirs. A bar where you can dance or karaoke. I was only there for three nights. I spent my time at the beach, in the pool or in Panama City. You need to drive or take a taxi to go anyplace because there is nothing within walking distance. If you love to shop, go to the Allbrook Mall. A very colorful and attractive mall with lots of great stores. Visit Old Panama City and spend time on the weekend down at the waterfront park. Lots of people walking around and there are vendors selling food, drinks, snacks and souvenirs. Of course, go to the Panama Canal! A must see! In my opinion, this resort is ideal for young familes, couples or those who enjoy a quiet place to take a vacation.

Nice, clean, relatively new hotel. A good deal for the high quality of the hotel. Helpful staff. Excellent amenities, including great pool and deck area, excellent gym (especially for a hotel). Great food in all the restaurants in which we ate - so much so that we usually ending up eating at the hotel rather than going out. Room was clean. Beds were comfortable. Good, relatively central location. Felt less like a chain and a bit more local, if that matters. Overall, we had an excellent stay and very much enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend the Sortis to friends and others, though this is my first time back to Panama in many years, so I don't have other hotels to compare it to.

    Best Time to Visit Panama

Located less than 10 degrees north of the equator, Panama resorts have consistent temperatures throughout the year. The tropical maritime climate features daytime highs in the mid-80s and lows around 65 degrees Fahrenheit. While the annual rainy season lasts from May to November, mornings and early afternoons are usually sunny and warm, which affords plenty of time for sightseeing and other activities. The lower humidity and minimal chance of rainfall make the December to April dry season the most popular time to visit Panama. While most of the country is warm, you will need a jacket if you plan to climb to the summit of Baru or visit El Valle de Anton.
