Panams Hotel - a Jewel in Panama City

Posted Jun 13, 2012
Super small hotel where the staff can't do enough to help you (at no extra cost). Decor is modern and a little avant garde. Some people might not find like this but we thought a lot of thought and effort had gone into providing a unique ambience. It worked well for us.

We loved the Panams. The hotel was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The room was gorgeous and certainly more than what you would expect. The boutique was a short walk to a supermarket and neighboring bars and restaurants. It was only a 5$ taxi ride to the business district. Breakfast was simple and good and no frills about it. Free wine beer and expresso offered at all times. This was GREAT! Overall we were very pleased with our stay at the Panams. PLease note that the front desk was difficult to work with only because our spanish was s poor and they did not know alot of Englsh, but I give them an A for effort. FYI if your in panama city check out "BEIRUT" restaurant. Great food.

Panams Hotel - fantastic

We had a most pleasant stay in Panams Hotel, it was about 6 blocks to Uruguay Street where lots of restaurants are located. About 15 inutes walk is Via Espana for shopping and Allbrook Mall is a short taxi ride away. The staff were very obliging and helpful. The room was very spacious and spotless, we highly recommend tis hotel.

Excellent Staff, Not-Quite-There Design

Posted Mar 4, 2012
My boyfriend and I stayed here our last night in Panama City. I found the staff very pleasant and helpful. They made a reservation for us at La Posta and found a clothes steamer for us to use. The lobby is lovely, and I appreciated easy access to a computer and printer to check in for our flight and the complimentary wine and cookies. Some of the design aspects of the room seemed nice in theory but didn't work well in practice. There was a whirlpool bath in the room itself rather than the bathroom. While it was nice to kick back in the bath with a glass of wine, it was also easy to slosh water across half the room when getting out of the tub. The toilet in our room did not flush properly, a flaw of the modern-looking push-button flushing mechanism on the tank. Bathroom floor was not flush with bedroom floor, could easily stub a toe in the middle of the night. First-floor balcony had a view of an alley and razor-wire coils on the building next door. While the hotel is close to Calle Uruguay, many streets are unmarked and the sidewalks are hazardous. Not a pedestrian-oriented city, and I recommend hailing a cab and spending $3 to get to the restaurant district.

This is a fantastic hotel - highly recommended! Beautifully decorated, amazing bathroom! You can walk easily to restaurant and bar area (Calle Uruguay), easy taxi everywhere else ($2-$5 a ride).
