“Good choice for Paris”
This contemporary hotel is well located for those wishing to be on the Left Bank. The hotel has a modest entrance but inside it is very smart. Our room was nicely decorated with a good bed and new bathroom.
“Quiet location in busy area”
The hotel staff were always very helpful and all spoke English. The location is on a very quiet side street in a busy area (Montparnasse). The rooms are very small but perfect for the tourist who expects to spend most of the day sightseeing. The bed was a little hard for our taste, but otherwise fine. The elevator is not for claustrophobics--only two people can use it at once--but it was reliable. One interesting thing--you leave your key at the desk when you leave, which means you get to interact with the staff for a while each time you return. There is no restaurant, but they do have nice continental breakfast in the morning at a reasonable price. There are a number of good restaurants and cafes very close by. There is a laundromat across the street if you need one, and the hotel will also do laundry. The metro stops (Vavin and Montparnasse Bienvenue) are just a block or two away, and it is quick and easy to get to any of the major tourist attractions. For the price, it was a good find. We would definitely stay again if we came back.
“Great Hotel and Great Location”
This intimate hotel has character and style. Service is friendly and impeccable. Fixtures and equipment are top quality. I found the free availability of international newspapers and of mini-bar contents to be a really great touch. Location next to Vavin metro can't be beat. The area is lively and stylish, close to the Jardin du Luxembourg. I look forward to staying here again on my next trip to Paris.
“Would have loved to have spent more time”
We will come back to this hotel again! My husband and I only had one night at the Chaplain Rive Gauche, but we were really pleased with the service and the room. Having stayed in several hotels in Paris, I set my size expectations low. The rooms here are also small, but very well appointed and comfortable. Modern and cozy. Our room was quiet, but the location is central and near a good metro stop. The front desk staff was friendly and efficient. Not usually impressed with hotel breakfasts, but this was an exception. Great pastry, juice, yogurts, and (because I am an American, I get excited about this) eggs! Delicious, especially early in the morning before a long day of travel. I'll look forward to our next trip to Paris and staying here again!
“Very small room in great location”
Travelled as a couple (in our early 30's), stayed 4 nights at the hotel. The neighborhood is great, close enough to all the sights and the metro. Plenty of cafe's and a great irish pub 1/2 block away. The entry level room was extremely small, but probably to be expected for Paris and Europe. We skipped breakfast at the hotel - a lot cheaper just to grab a coffee and croissant around the corner. Free internet station in the lobby was helpful.
“Perfect for first trip to Paris”
The room itself was small in comparison to western (US) rooms, but not in a bad way; truth is, we were only in there to sleep and shower. You want to spend time in Paris inside, find a "name" hotel somewhere with wasted space rooms; then again, who wants to spend time inside? For the most part things were quiet during our week except for last couple days when room above us had a kid or two jumping around at odd times... not that such doesn't happen everywhere I've ever traveled. No bad marks for that small thing. We didn't purchase or use the daily breakfast (14 Euro) -- even though it looked very yummy -- because there were countless places within walking distance, including several bakeries. Speaking of location, this hotel is perfectly situated near Vavin Metro stop -- allowed us to get everywhere whenever we wanted. Perfect for our first Paris trip. We can't say enough good things about the experience, starting with the hotel and the sights of this wonderful city. We've already decided we'll be returning again and are starting to save for it now!
“Lovely boutique hotel in a quaint neighbourhood”
close to the metro and lot of coffee shops. i would strongly recommend this hotel.
“Great Hotel”
The hotel was a wonderful place to rest in the busy city of Paris! Thankfully the staff spoke English because we knew NO French. Also, there was a great bakery right down the street to get your morning pastries.
“Small but stylish”
The hotel was near two different subway stations and was convenient to get around town. The room was extremely small but well appointed and the bathroom had high-end plumbing fixtures. The staff was a single person at the front desk and you leave your key with them when you leave. The Luxemburg Gardens are a block away and a nice place to run or people watch, but don't take a nap in the grass... you will get awoken by a cop and reprimanded... whoops. :)
