Having stayed at various 2 star hotels in this area the room decor, furniture and bathroom were more up to date and cohesive. Only downside is the lack of internal soundproofing which proved a bit too much after 2 nights for a 9 night stay. However, Anna was absolutely brilliant from the offset (and throughout) and moved us (2 rooms) to the rear for the remaining 7. We visit yearly and know the area well and know what to expect regarding location, locals and hotel rooms. Visitors to this area need to be aware that 2* rooms are small, basic and not perfect which is (very Paris) and reflected in the cost and the 10th around this area is noisy and a bit sketchy, more so at night. This part of the 10th is a transient heavy footfall transport hub for visitors and local commuters, Paris is no different to any other major city, you need to be socially aware. The 10th GDN location is excellent, the hotels are on the doorstep and reasonable, you have an abundance of eateries and you get can to anywhere easily - we come from London.
