Great location

Pros: Near the metro station
Cons: No safety box for free in room as stated in the review
Location: Lots of cafe around it. Great foods and wine of course.
Budget hotel with good staff. Expect no more with no air con or even fan in the room. Breakfast limited choice.

It has a great location

It is within walking distance to both Gare Est and Nord. The hotel is in the process of being renovated. I stayed in the new section which is clean and with new fixtures. People are quiet because management insisted that no loud noise after 10 pm. We had a nice stay.

Good little hotel

We enjoyed our stay at EST. Travellers need to understand Paris to understand Parisian hotels. Unless you fork out mega $$$, you are going to get a small room. Est is no exception. They are small, but comfortable. If you are travelling with multiple suitcases, backpacks and camels, the floor space fills up fast. Desk staff were extremely helpful and polite. The area of the hotels is located closer to Gare-D'est (2 blocks), and about 8 blocks from Gare 'D'nor. It takes about 20 to 25 minutes to walk to the Louvre. The renovated rooms were clean and nice (not luxury). The hallways are still "in progress", so the walk to your room can be somewhat scary. Rooms were cleaned very well. There is a sign saying no food or alcohol in the rooms - but I got the sense this was to deter a younger backpacking element from partying in the rooms...as I walked in with grocery bags, coffee...baked goods etc, and never heard a thing. I left my drinks to cool on the tiny windowsill over night and again - nothing. You do pay for wifi....10 euros for a 24 hour block of time....on one device. Not bad. Over all...if you are in Paris to sight see as opposed to stay in your room - a renovated room at the hotel Est was a good bet.
