Pros: Good location. Lots of restaurants. Close to train stations Les Gobelins and Gare Austerlitz.
We had a nice stay at the hotel. The room is spacious by European standard. Room needs updating as it looks old. Free breakfast was good.

Small hotel located outside of the tourist trap

This is a terrific no frills hotel close to two metro stations. A short subway rides will get you into the heart of Paris and everything you want to see.

Reasonable hotel in Paris

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: Breakfast (included) is very good, although breakfast room is a little cramped.
Location: Location is outside Latin Quarter, but only a short stroll to restaurants etc Need Metro to get to the main Paris sights.
Location is very good - short walk to the Latin Quarter, near METRO. Hotel showing signs of age, but is very confortable, lifts slow. Reasonably quiet part of Paris, little street noise at night. Difficult to find/park if you are driving - even to stop to drop off cases. Paris METRO system excellent (and cheap) and easy to navigate to all Paris sights.

Well located & everything you need for a good trip

Pros: The Breakfast & the Location
Cons: Better Wifi. My brother connected to the wifi just fine, but service in my room was spotty at times. Never had a problem connecting in the lobby.
Location: A couple blocks from the metro. Plenty of restaurants nearby. We walked to the Jardin de Plantes rather quickly. Notre Dame took 30 min to walk.
Like most things in Paris, the rooms are small. This doesn't mean that you will be cramped, it just means that there is exactly enough room for you to do hotel stuff. I stayed in a single room with a full sized bed. It was great. The hotel served a continental buffet. It included croissants, rolls, cereal, assorted deli meats, coffee, juice, yogurt and jarred fruit. Again, nothing lavish, but plenty to get your day started. The location is fantastic, 2 blocks from the metro, easy to get anywhere in the city. The one thing that was a little different for me is that they still use actual keys for each room. You are required to turn in your key every time you leave the hotel, and pick it up when you get back. I thought this would be a huge inconvenience, but it wasn't a problem. There is someone at the desk at all times. As the guy that usually comes back to his room at 3-4am, this was impressive. Overall, I had a great experience with this hotel, and would definitely consider it again for a future trip.

Reception helpful. Within walking distance of the Austerlitz station and the Jardin des Plantes. Plenty of restaurants and bars in the area. The boulevard is pleasant. my room , on the corner, had a pleasing view. WiFi was free.

Great staff, good location

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: Staff and breakfast.
Cons: Please install shower curtains.
Location: Many nearby cafes and a metro.
The staff was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was very nice and offered coffee, tea, yogurt, cheeses, ham, croissants, and rolls. The location is very good, there's a supermarket on the same block and a metro only 2 blocks away.

Small hotel with tiny rooms but a friendly staff.

Posted Aug 8, 2014
Pros: The staff and the breakfasts
Cons: The small rooms - an impossible task! Nets on the windows so that the curtains could be open during the day
Location: The Latin Quarter where the hotel is situated is ideal especially if you have been to Paris before and don't want to redo the big sites.
The staff here are very friendly especially the manager Jean -Marc. He was full of knowledge, smiles and suggestions on what to do. The other reception staff weren't quite as friendly bu the breakfast ladies and cleaners were delightful. The rooms were tiny but we were in Paris! The Latin Quarter where the hotel is situated is ideal especially if you have been to Paris before and don't want to redo the big sites. We walked miles exploring, which included the Pantheon, Cluny and the History of the Arab World centre. No queues and we were able to move at our own pace and see everything. We would highly recommend this hotel

Nice hotel in Paris

Posted Aug 3, 2014
I enjoyed my stay at the Grand Hotel des Gobelins. The hotel was located in a nice neighbourhood and was only a short distance from a metro station making it easy to move around the city. The rooms were clean but small, although I did expect this and so I wasn't disappointed. Staff were friendly and I enjoyed the simple breakfast that was offered.
