Lovely Stay at Hotel des Gobelins

Posted Oct 19, 2014
Pros: The breakfasts are delicious and the staff goes above and beyond the call to duty!!
Cons: Being on a main boulevard, it can be noisy especially with a large hospital just behind the hotel.
Location: Wonderful shopping is nearby, an excellent grocery store and lots of places to eat or grab a bite. There are also several pharmacies near.
This is my second stay at this remarkable , little gem of a hotel. it is about an easy 12-15 minute walk to the Batobus, 3 minute walk to a lovely bistro down the street, close to a supermarket and wonderful shopping. The breakfast there are filling and delicious and the staff is marvelous. When I return to Paris (and I will again) I will be sure to book a room there again.

Good safe option for value in Paris.

Posted Oct 19, 2014
Pros: Clean and good location serviced by metro, market and restaurants.
Cons: Shower curtains on the bath, and perhaps a little more generosity at breakfast.
A comfortable, no nonsense experience which was good value for money. Rooms were clean and quite spacious for Paris. Bathrooms were very clean (although I'm still baffled as to why there were no shower curtains!) Breakfast, whilst serviceable, was a little limited but OK. If you are a family of four (like us) be aware that you will get two rooms which some may prefer, others may not. Location was close to a metro and some decent restaurants and a useful supermarket a few shops away.

Grand Hotel des Gobelins - Lovely Hotel

Posted Oct 14, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere. Lovely generous continental breakfast.
Location: Hotel situated near the Latin quarter. Lots of nice restaurants and bars nearby. Rue Mouffetard area is nearby.
Stayed in hotel for 3 nights, on the 1st floor. It was perfect. Room was nice and clean, staff were very friendly, great location, a few minutes from des Gobelins underground station. Nice large double windows that both opened, and I couldn't hear any traffic outside when the windows were closed. Bathroom was really nice. Bed was perfect. I'd love to go back to Paris and would definitely stay here again!!

Nice Clean Hotel Centrally Located

Posted Oct 7, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness. Helpful staff.
Cons: Just continue with the upkeep of the rooms.
Senior lady traveling alone. Felt safe in this small hotel close to Metro station, the Austerlitz RER train station, bus stops, different types of restaurants, shops, supermarkets, drug stores, Paris botanical garden, Natural History Museum, The Pantheon, Mouffetard street market and restaurants, Latin Quarter all walking distance. In room safe, decent continental buffet (no eggs or hot dishes, but breads, coffee, teas, cold cereals, yogurt, cold cuts, some fruit). Free Wi-fi. Jean Marc and Sadig and the rest of staff very helpful and with good attitude, english spoken. Wish I could visit the city of lights more to stay again. Thank you all.

Pros: Good location. Lots of restaurants. Close to train stations Les Gobelins and Gare Austerlitz.
We had a nice stay at the hotel. The room is spacious by European standard. Room needs updating as it looks old. Free breakfast was good.

Reasonable hotel in Paris

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: Breakfast (included) is very good, although breakfast room is a little cramped.
Location: Location is outside Latin Quarter, but only a short stroll to restaurants etc Need Metro to get to the main Paris sights.
Location is very good - short walk to the Latin Quarter, near METRO. Hotel showing signs of age, but is very confortable, lifts slow. Reasonably quiet part of Paris, little street noise at night. Difficult to find/park if you are driving - even to stop to drop off cases. Paris METRO system excellent (and cheap) and easy to navigate to all Paris sights.

Well located & everything you need for a good trip

Posted Aug 31, 2014
Pros: The Breakfast & the Location
Cons: Better Wifi. My brother connected to the wifi just fine, but service in my room was spotty at times. Never had a problem connecting in the lobby.
Location: A couple blocks from the metro. Plenty of restaurants nearby. We walked to the Jardin de Plantes rather quickly. Notre Dame took 30 min to walk.
Like most things in Paris, the rooms are small. This doesn't mean that you will be cramped, it just means that there is exactly enough room for you to do hotel stuff. I stayed in a single room with a full sized bed. It was great. The hotel served a continental buffet. It included croissants, rolls, cereal, assorted deli meats, coffee, juice, yogurt and jarred fruit. Again, nothing lavish, but plenty to get your day started. The location is fantastic, 2 blocks from the metro, easy to get anywhere in the city. The one thing that was a little different for me is that they still use actual keys for each room. You are required to turn in your key every time you leave the hotel, and pick it up when you get back. I thought this would be a huge inconvenience, but it wasn't a problem. There is someone at the desk at all times. As the guy that usually comes back to his room at 3-4am, this was impressive. Overall, I had a great experience with this hotel, and would definitely consider it again for a future trip.
