Pros: The room was small (but that is to be expected of hotels in Paris) but clean. The bed was really comforatable.
Cons: The room was a little dark; I would have liked a another light.
Location: The location was great. Safe area. It was in walking distance to many of the main attractions and just a few blocks from the Louvre.
It was unique hotel as I have never stayed at a hotel that was artsy. I picked the hotel for the location but overall I had a great stay.

Excellent location in centre of Paris. SpotlesslyPosted Nov 25, 2013
Pros: Location, cleanliness and STAFF STAFF STAFF!
Cons: They have made the most of the asset they have
Location: Close to the Louvre, Palais Royale, Notre Dame, left bank. Fun bistro's and restaurants nearby. Just an ideal hotel. Small but soo comfortable.
Warm and welcoming staff, always helpful, anxious to please, suggesting things to do to ensure the best possible visit. Added many little touches one would not normally expect from a hotel in a city that size

excellent choice for a budgetPosted Nov 25, 2013
The hotel is very funky, but nice. Everything you need and the location is great! Only 4 blocks to the Louvre, etc.

I booked this hotel largely because of the very positive reviews on Expedia and Trip Advisor. Other than close proximity to the Louvre, for me the negatives outweighed the positives. When I arrived, the lift was not working. I had to sleep with two pillows over my head the first night because of the street noise (that was an issue every night for me). My room was tiny, which was somewhat expected, but I could not even wash my face at the sink without getting water on the floor in the bathroom, thanks for the bizarre faucet arrangement. The shower was great and the room was clean. The front desk, when it was staffed by hotel employees and not someone filling in (which happened at least two times when I went to ask for local recommendations) was helpful, courteous and spoke good English.

Charming!Posted Sep 22, 2013
Stayed in March 2013. Good location (walking distance to Louvre, Centre Pompidou, if you don't mind walking for 15 minutes) and there are some really good restaurants around the hotel. Staff, super-friendly and efficient; room, a bit small, but that's normal in Paris; decor, very funky and artistic :) I enjoyed my stay very much!

Great Little GemPosted Sep 16, 2013
Pros: The warm reception and great assistance from all the staff. The quirky design ethos of the decorations and furnishings was charming.
Cons: It would be difficult to recommend any improvements, based upon my own experience.
Location: The hotel is within easy walking distance to the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Opera Garnier, and numerous other locations that could be reached on foot.
I chose the Crayon due to its proximity to the Louvre, but it proved to be perfect for visiting all the major attractions on foot, without having to walk too far. The hotel provided everything needed, from breakfast, both in the breakfast room in the basement or the buffet adjacent to the reception. The honesty bar in the buffet area was also a wonderful reflection of the attitude of the hotel owners and staff. Our room was small but comfortable, and very quiet at night due to its position on the top floor at the rear, a true garret experience! The staff were all bilingual and helpful, a good thing with my level of French... a good example being the help in obtaining our on line check in for our journey home. Even though a lap top was provided free of charge by the hotel, they were good enough to go through the check in process for me.

Small and noisy roomsPosted Sep 15, 2013
The good: Very friendly staff, tasty buffet breakfast (price not included in our room rate), great location. The bad: Extremely small rooms, even by European standards. Very poor sound-proofing. Every time the elevator went up or down, we could hear the motor whirring in our room, and when the elevator door opened on our floor, there would be a banging sound in our room. We could hear conversations from the room across the hallway, and our first day in the hotel, we were woken by the sound of furniture moving in the room upstairs from us.
