“Good price, great location, nice people”
I stayed at Hotel du Plat d'Etain for one night during a brief trip to Paris. The hotel is walking distance to the wonderful Centre Pompidou and very close to a few Metro stations - Strasbourg metro stop takes you directly to the Eiffel Tower (on line 8) or to Gare du' Nord for the train or airport (on line 4). I traveled solo and was pleasantly surprised by the multilingual staff who were very helpful - especially Jimmy who has worked in tourism for many years. The room was modest and a bit outdated but the bed was very comfortable. After a long day of walking around the city it was a great relief to have a comfortable bed and soft pillows. Americans, don't forget your charger converters when traveling.
“Nice Hotel”
The hotel was nice, we stayed in the quad and it had plenty of room for all of us. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to everything and the Metro is only a very short walk away. I would recommend this hotel to any of my friends.

I was disappointed with its "good for business travelers" description. The pictures were way better than actual. The bathroom was nicely renovated and large, but the room itself was old and humid since the airconditioning didn't work well. I was given a room with 3 single beds, lights are always off in the hallways so I was searching for light switches in pitch dark, curtains in room were half falling off the rods, there was no shampoo in my room. Acceptable for a backpacker or younger traveler maybe, but not for a business traveler.

“very small hotel”
This hotel is very small, on a small street, with a tiny lobby and a very small lift. Rooms are just ok, with poor-looking furnitures. We booked triple-bed room but were given a quad-bed room at check-in because they said no triple-bed is available. Next day they asked us to pay 15 euro/night for the 4th bed! When I argued, they reduced the charge to 10 euro/night which I had to pay. For families with children the location is not great since it is near a shady train station where you can see prostitutes waiting in the evening. The nearby taxi stand is useless. Good things about the hotel are that it is cheap, it is clean, it lies halfway between Notre Dam Cathedral and Gare de L'est (both walkable), and there are several restaurants close by.
