Good locationPosted Mar 11, 2013
Located about a 15 min walk to Notre Dame with a Metro station on the corner (Chateau D'eau) this was a perfect venue for our one night stay in Paris en route to Munich. The area is very busy but well located, lots of cheaper end restaurants etc

Pros: Clean bathroom.
Cons: In need of general updating.
Location: Not bad for Gare du Nord.
Myself and my 18 year old daughter were in Paris to celebrate her A level results and had a great time even the hotel wasn't brilliant. It was in a fairly good location, 15 minute walk from Gare de Nord. The bathroom was very clean and so was the bedding, so for 2 nights it was ok. I would describe our room as very old Parisian style - we were in a quaint attic room, the televison didn't work and the decor was poor. The area was full of small bars, bakeries, shops etc and not far from one of the main boulevards and very busy and noisy on a night time. This type of hotel would probably suit young people more because of the area and I think you get what you pay for.

You get a little better than you paid forPosted Jul 27, 2012
This is a simple and basic hotel near a main railway station (that is the area around it is a little rough, but it felt safe). But the street is not too noisy, the hotel is is 200 yards from a metro station (and 12mins to walk to Gard du Nord), we had air conditioning in our room, and the bed and bathroom were OK. Good deal.

So-so: OK for the pricePosted Feb 27, 2012
There was nothing wrong with this hotel - the bed was comfortable, the shower worked etc - but it was a bit 'tired', with a few ciggarette burns on the side tables, an old wardrobe whose doors didn't slide perfectly (but it still 'worked'). My feeling was that 20 years ago it probably fully warranted a 3-star rating, but now it is probably closer to 2 or 2.5. Still, it wasn't too badly priced for an en-suite room.

Set expectations right and get a good value hotel!Posted Dec 24, 2011
Pros: Staff was very pleasant, room cleaned every day, responded within 24 hours to my emails before trip, staff understood English. close to metro!
Cons: Small stuff - fridge in the hotel room didn't work, air conditioning unit broke but they turned on the gas heaters to solve it (it's Dec.)
Location: Neighborhood was not sketchy! Near streets with tons of restaurants, cafes and stores. Insanely close to the metro stop CHATEAU D'EAU!
Just finished a three night stay here. After reading some of the reviews, my wife and I were a little nervous about the "mystery" hotel we had blindly chosen for it's really deep discount. Here's our point of view from a married couple in their late twenties: For the money spent, this place was EXCELLENT. We always keep in mind that we get what we spend. In this case, we spent very little and it absolutely met our expectations if not exceeded them. Someone compared this place to a hostel in one review. Very wrong. The room was clean, the bathroom was clean, the shower is typical of every European shower we have used... they are small to Americans but NORMAL for most in the world. The water stayed hot for two showers in a row each morning. The drain was slow in the shower and that was something we could deal with. There was a tile missing on the wall underneath the sink. That didn't hurt our trip at all. Someone said the neighborhood is sketchy at night. Hardly. Every night we exited the metro around midnight, the hotel was very close down the block and there wasn't a single person nearby that we considered sketchy. The afternoons around 5pm were EXTREMELY busy however, but not sketchy. The population had many ethnicities represented. My wife was only spoken to once in passing but ignored it and everything was fine. Other than that the area is really great with nearby cafes and stores. The hotel is absolutely fine. Go here but set your expectations!

Below average hotel, interesting neighborhood. Toilet leaked and constantly smelt like urine, shower head was no longer attached to the wall. Breakfast was poor & terrible even by continental standards, and over priced.

an hotel to avoidPosted Oct 23, 2011
Location: Stay away from the Train stations area unless it is really close by and good standing hotels.
I am surprised this hotel is in the Expedia list. The area is awful and noisy, the hotel is supposed to be 3 stars, a generally ok standard: I dont know how this one got three stars ! The bathroom is so small that you need to open the door to dry yourself. The shower gives alternated cold and warm (not hot) water whatever you do and it is an acrobatic exercise to stand in the tiny shower cabin and soap yourself. The room is crowded so - I suppose - to fit the list of fixture for the 3 stars ie a TV, a fridge, but there is no space almost to pass between the window and the bed. I would not recommend staying outside the hotel in the street unless you have an urgent need to ha ve your hair made afro style (14 such officines in a radius of 50 meters) and altogether it would be prudent not to go around too much. I am used to take Expedia recommendations seriously but this time was really bad. On top of it the water pipes are so noisy that it can wake you up !!!!
