“good location”
Small rooms, no air conditioning but it's close to the subway and it's in Paris not outside the city. Personnel very helpful and friendly. Lot's of restaurants near the hotel and Metro station. Good option if you only needed to sleep.
“Can't wait to leave”
The room we stayed was very small and clumsy, no air condition, no cable TV, only a very old small TV with 2 local channels. We asked a non-smoking room, but because of no air condition so we had to open the window. The smokes from next room fill out our room and the room became smoking room. We asked if we can change to an upper floor to avoid the noise from upper stair, the reception showed us a room without any window at first floor and told us that was only room available. Even the reception promised to move us to a higher floor but never contact us again. By the way, we saw 6 different receptionists including night shift during the 4 days stayed at this hotel, almost every day we will see a new receptions. The only good thing was that we stayed at the second floor and only need to climb up to two floors because the elevator constantly malfunctions.
“Adequate & Good Price”
Adequate, good price, location OK, walking distance to Gare du Nord (Eurostar station). We found the hotel staff to be friendly and helpful. The room was small, but clean and adequate. Same for the bathroom. American travelers note: one product is stocked in the bathroom for both body wash and shampoo. Walking distance to Metro stop and Cafes. A pleasant place to stay for those who are out sight seeing or otherwise busy most of the day.
“I would stay there again”
We had a great time at the hotel. The staff was very friendly. The location of the hotel was great too, just a few blocks away from metro stations, and very close to lots of restaurants and shopping. Some things about the hotel weren't perfect (fridge and phone didn't work), but it was very clean and for the price I cannot complain. I definitely recommend it!
“Great quality”
Our stay at Hotel Opera Gotty was for three nights. We had three rooms, one with an adult plus two kids, one with one adult and one kid, and one with two adults. Everyone was satisfied with their rooms. They were clean, with large, spacious bathrooms, and all had windows opening either onto the street or into a small, central courtyard. It's a good location, not far from Montmartre, and not too far from the center of the city---just a few Metro stops away. The patisserie/bakery on the corner nearby was very good, and there were many nice restaurants close by. (The continental breakfast offered by the hotel was very expensive, so we skipped it, and ate that the bakery instead, which was great.) The staff were extremely helpful, and friendly, and all spoke good English. A few, minor downsides: the walls are thin, so we could often hear people walking around and talking nearby. There is no free Internet access, though you could pay to get it through Orange. Sometimes, in the middle of the day, there was no hot water, but we never had trouble with a morning shower. Overall I think Hotel Gotty Opera was a great value. If I got the same price I did this time, I'd definitely stay there again.
“Ripoff”
The hotel is close to the metro. The room was very small for three people. They had shoved three beds in a single room- quite literally. we did not have enough space to open our luggage. One of the reasons I picked this hotel on the internet over the others, was that it had a refrigerator (advertised as mini-bar). I figured, we could have some food for the kid. The first thing I noticed was that the fridge did not work. When I confronted the front desk, I received a big "you're screwed" smile from them with a comment, "It is not working. We're going to take the fridges out of the rooms". The very small TV had such bad reception, that we couldn't use it. The carpet and the blankets were rundown and old. The bath tub gave you the creeps. The very small elevator was out of order twice during our stay for extended periods of time. We had to carry our luggage to the sixth floor through the extremely narrow and spiraling staircase. On the fourth night, a large group of Italian kids were all placed on our floor, at the other end of the hall. Drunk and loud as they were, we ended up having to hold the baby's ears until things quieted down. The sheets and towels were not changed everyday, until we complained. Then the front desk complained back to us that my son had spilled orange juice on the sheets!! If you're coming from the States, leave your quality expectations back home. Otherwise, find yourself another hotel. The staff were courteous, however. They spoke English.
