Good hotel!Posted May 26, 2015
Very nice Paris hotel and location Currently undergoing renovation (completion in Nov. 2015). So understand that you may not have a view out of your window because of that. Everything else is great! Recommended!

Not a four star hotel!Posted May 25, 2015
Pros: It was close to a Metro station and a 20 minute walk to the Gare du Nord. Bed was comfortable.
Cons: Update the rooms.
Location: It was close to a couple of Metro stations and the Gare du Nord. A few restaurants nearby but not a great area.
This hotel does not deserve a 4 star rating! Although I knew the hotel was under renovation I booked anyway because it was listed as a four star hotel and was close to the Gare du Nord. The front entrance exterior was covered by scaffolding and the workers began their work at 8:30am. Our room was a reasonably good size but was old, needed a paint job, carpet was badly stained and there was a musty smell. There was scaffolding outside our window. On our first night the fire alarm awoke us at 6:24 am! Fortunately, it was a false alarm. Bathroom was adequate but for our 3-night stay we received one small 2.5 square inch thin bar of soap and toilet paper was one ply. The area around the hotel was dirty. It was not worth the rate we paid!

Guter Ausgangspunkt zur StadterkundungPosted May 24, 2015

Good locationPosted May 23, 2015
Pros: As an elderly single traveller I felt comfortable here
Location: Well sited for two different metro lines and convenient for the big department stores
I had a spacious room with a bath and a kettle to make a drink. There was building work going on outside at the hotel but I was forewarned about this and the price reflected this. Unfortunately the fire alarm went off at 6.30 am one morning but these things happen and it could have been for real The dining room was pleasant for breakfast, very relaxed and a good choice of food, nicely presented.

Central Location, wait for the renovationsPosted May 21, 2015
Pros: Good location between Eurostar and main sights. Friendly front desk and cleaning staff.
Cons: Tired Decor - see current renovations. Poor breakfast. Mixed room facilities.
Location: 15 minutes walk from Eurostar. 20 minutes walk to Galeries Lafayette along the Grand Boulevards.
A difficult hotel to rate while the renovations are still underway. Headlines: + Good location, between Eurostar terminals and main sights. - Some nearby streets are not so glamorous. + Plenty of restaurants near by. + Front desk and cleaning staff very friendly. - Renovations underway - noisy mornings and scaffolding. Hotel appearance yet to catch up with the appearance on the website. - Poor room layout and facilities - may be partly solved by renovations. - Poor breakfast. Rooms and Facilities. Even in an "Executive" Room we found: - Tired decor - may be resolved in renovation. - Poor room layout and no natural light. Our room had a very small and poorly located window which was also blocked as part of the renovations. Even after the renovations the room will still be dark and have a poor layout. - Mixed in-room facilities. Safe included. Kettle available but no mugs - only 2 disposable paper cups. Not 4* in my book! + Good, free wifi. - Empty minibar. - Very limited pillow choice - big or big! Breakfast was included in our rate yet for 50% of our stay we ate out. + Buffet style and good pastries. - Tinned fruit selection. - The hot food was stone cold. - Tired decor and no natural light in the breakfast room - renovations to resolve? - Staff slightly possessive of the coffee machine!

Posted May 20, 2015
Cons: CITY TAX

Actually it's a good hotel to stay in : best thing was the amazing location in paris which is close to many metro stations & buses and the surrounding is full of restaurants and cafés , and everything you do need. The breakfast was fine : cheese , bacons , eggs, chocolates , orange juice(not so much tasty), hot drinks and breads. The problems were with the room as the air condition is not working well , in hot nights it wasn't a good choice to make the room cool.

Tolles Hotel in zentraler LagePosted May 19, 2015

Short but Sweet Stay in ParisPosted May 17, 2015
Pros: The staff were friendly, professional and helpful and this has to be commended, especially as they are working in disruptive conditions.
Location: The hotel is in a good location for Gard du Nord, Metro, restaurants and many other Paris attractions.
After reading several reviews about this hotel I booked it knowing that it was undergoing renovation. Valerie who was working on reception on my arrival advised that the work was still ongoing, but this was not going to be a issue for me as I was going to be sightseeing all day and leaving the hotel between 08.30am - 09.00am. Without exception I found all of the hotel staff and work men that I encountered to be polite, courteous and pleasant. The hotel staff in particular were keen to ensure that my stay and any of my needs were met and always with a smile. I did not encounter excessive noise at this hotel, albeit there was some noise from outside, but this is to be expected in a city. The room was cleaned and fresh towels provided every day (remember to put your wet towels in the bath to get fresh ones). I had read about the City Tax (online) and payment was made on check out. I stayed in one of the unrenovated rooms and while it was a bit dated with marks on the carpet this did not detract from my holiday. There is a safe, small fridge, drink making facilities and adequate closet space in the room. I had breakfast in the hotel and it seemed to cater for most culinary needs. Finally, I am sure that once the renovation work is completed the hotel will reflect more accurately the staff's daily efforts to deliver service excellence.
