“no atmosphere..area is great for tourists...at night it is seedy.”

This hotel gave me a single room...tiny..clean but too tiny. Bed also too tiny. Area has lots of sex shops. Overpriced. To experience real Paris this area is not it. Local restaurants are way overpriced, not good - because they cater to the theaters. There are barely any outdoor cafes. Just dirty bars. Yes you are close to the department stores, the Opera but did you go to Paris for department stores. Also if you want to get there cheaply and depart cheaply - take the Roissybus. The staff will not suggest it. They will suggest an expensive private car which will be 6 times more expensive. I am sure they get a cut. So no - i would never reccomend or go back.

Area recommendations

St. Germain de Pres, Marais and further away the 16th. REAL neighborhoods, cafes, bakeries, people - life in the evening. not dead.

“Le Relais Madeleine - Very Nice”

This is a great, small hotel in a great neighborhood. The room was very clean, comfortable and well updated with modern amenities. My personal preference is to always select an upgraded (not economy) room when in Europe. If you're a confident and independent traveler, you'll find this hotel and neighborhood a great spot to stay in Paris.

Area recommendations

Area around Madeleine has good food & shops. Convenient to transportation including RER/ Metro to CDG airport & Green Line Tour bus. Perhaps this neighborhhood is a bit more of a Parisian experience than the area around the Champs Elysee.
