Old and smallPosted Aug 14, 2013
Cons: Change carpet everywhere, be more welcoming
Location: Place de la madelaine, opera, champs elysees, us embassy, concorde
Good location close to the champs elysees but our room was extremely small and the carpet stained in multiple places... Wifi was on and off and employees not always that nice.

Close to the MadeleinePosted Jul 28, 2013 on Hotels.com
Traveling solo and loved the hotel. The bed literally filled up the room which could be uncomfortable for more than one person but for just me it was great. The location is great... next to the Madeleine and easy to get to the Louvre and train stations. As a single woman traveling, I felt very safe walking alone in this neighborhood. I saw some of the other areas in Paris and definitely felt safer in this area than in some. Great little restaurants nearby. I stayed for a couple of nights and everyone that worked there was extremely helpful.

Great-ishPosted Jul 24, 2013
Cons: The grotty carpet.
The only thing that lets this place down is the carpet. It seems strange to even mention it but it was just terrible!! Otherwise it was fantastic. Great location and very helpful, friendly staff.

SHABBY FOR 3 STAR HOTELPosted Sep 19, 2012
Cons: SHABBY AND UNKEMPT. ROOMS AND SHOWER ROOMS VERY SMALL
Location: EXCELLENT LOCATION
DISAPPOINTING FOR 3* HOTEL. FIRST ROOM HAD A HOLE IN CEILING AND CRACKED MIRROR. AFTER MOVING TO ANOTHER ROOM SINK PLUG NOT WORKING, A DOOR HANDLE CAME OFF AND MAIN LIGHT NOT WORKING. CIGARETTE BUTTS IN ARTIFICIAL FLOWERS IN WINDOW BOXES. CARPETS AND WALLPAPER VERY WORN THROUGHOUT COMMON AREAS. SITTING AREA DIRTY AND WORN. A YOUNG LADY AT RECEPTION CHEERFUL AND HELPFUL, OTHER STAFF AT TIMES LACKING ENTHUSIASM.

Mostly good at Newton Opera HotelPosted May 20, 2012 on Hotels.com
The hotel is in a good location but for some reason most of the taxi drivers didn't know of it or where it was, and in three cases we were turned away by taxis who didn't want to take us. The hotel was pretty clean but small and a lot of the decor is old and worn down. There were burn holes in our bed spreads and the carpet was dirty but the bathroom was clean mostly. Very small room but I hear this is the norm for Paris. Someone helped take our stuff up to the room but we were on our own to bring it down and they only have one very small closet for storage so if you want to leave your bags and so does someone else, you may be left with your stuff just sitting by the check-in desk and hoping nobody grabs it.

The hotel with a corkscrew in every roomPosted Nov 14, 2011
I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. It is situated in the very heart of Paris; one finds it easy to get to the most desirable monuments of the city. The staff is helpful and discrete. Although its rooms lack the spaciousness of American suites, they are comfortable and clean. One can feel like in Paris lying in bed and drinking some good French wine poured from a bottle easily uncorked with a corkscrew that is a part of the room's equipment.

Great location, but that's all.Posted Sep 14, 2011 on Hotels.com
This hotel was in a great location and neighborhood, but the room was tiny and in need of renovation (especially the bathroom), and neither the phone, pants press, or the tv worked. I would never stay there again. Great shower gel, though.

Location over luxuryPosted May 29, 2011 on Hotels.com
The location of the hotel is great. Right next to the Madeleine church and within walking distance of the Place de la Concorde, the Opera, the Grands Magasins, the Faubourg Saint-Honore street, the Champs Elysees. Very close to the Madeleine metro station too. On the downside the rooms are very small with very little space for suitcases. The bathrooms are also really small. The room cleaning personnel was very professional, discrete and polite and overall cleanliness was good. Internet is complimentary. The mattress was also great and the neighborhood is quiet so you should have no trouble sleeping well. All that for quite a pricey tag however - apparently location is what you're mostly paying for. Breakfast was ok (buffet) although not included in the room rate (and a bit pricey too!). In a nutshell, if you're looking for a decent, quite comfortable hotel to stay in the center of Paris and be close to various city attractions and you're not particularly interested in big luxurious rooms this is a good alternative. Be prepared however to pay a bit more for the location compared to the luxury you'll be getting.
