“Not going back”
We stayed as family and they put us in a end room 255 and it is horrible. Carpet is old and messy and house keeping does not even do a good job with vaccum. The bathroom is like a mobile unit and blocks to the middle of the room. Horrible experience with the stay.
“Paris Was Great”
I stayed at the Novotel Paris Gare De Lyon in mid-August 15, 2011 as the final portion of a trip across France and Belgium with my son. The area adjacent to the hotel was what someone would expect being next to a major urban train station; safe but definitely not picturesque. Once inside, however, I was very satisfied with the quality of the room, attention by the staff and the overall hotel experience. I purchased the breakfast package and was not disappointed; the breakfast buffet was excellent. I selected this hotel because it was very close to the drop off location for my Europcar rental car and convenient to many of the Paris areas of interest (such as , the Louvre, the Latin Quarter and Notre Dame which were generally, within a 15 to 30 minute walk. In addition, Metro stations were located nearby and the nearby Gare de Lyon train station is well serviced by taxis. I would stay at this hotel again.
“Excellent location”
I went to Paris with my parents and chose this hotel because is by the station Gare de Lyon, which was very helpful since we had the idea about using the train and metro to move around. The hotel is clean and the service is really good. None of us speak French, but I would say that anyone speaks English in Paris and people were really nice to us even when they knew just a little bit of English. My parents and I loved the hotel breakfast. The room is small, but it didn't bother us because we were out all day long and used it only for showering and sleeping. It had a kettle and hair dryer as it says in the description of the rooms. Everything worked well in the room. There was a queen size bed for my parents and I slept on the couch, which I could open in two "separeted" single beds, but used one side as a bed and left the other one as a seat. There are several good restaurants around the hotel, I would recommend a "creperia" that is located on rue de Lyon and a Japanese restaurant next to the Bastille square. The hotel is also close to a Carrefour store and that's really good because one can go there and buy some snacks for a "good price". However, it's Paris, so almost nothing is cheap. We had lunch inside the Louvre and the Versailles Palace, both times were expensive; however, the meal is really more expensive inside the Louvre. It's a great city, easy to go around using the metro and train lines. I hope everyone enjoy it as much as we did.
“Great Choice for Families”
We had a great two days in Paris at the Novetel Hotel. The breakfast was great and they had a lady painting children's faces and keeping them entertained while the parents enjoyed their espresso or cappucino. The swimming pool was a really nice touch when returning from a busy day of sight seeing. Location was ideal because it was a two minute walk to the Subway (Metro) station. We will be returning to this hotel in the future.
“Not Impressed with the initial room”
Room that Novotel thru Expedia gave us was the handicapped room. We asked for a regular room and waited an hour and the room we received had been perfumed and was unacceptable. Finally we had management come up and relocate us to a room without the smell. No twin bed option which I think Novotel ought to have when they are 4 star hotel
“Great for kids!”
We traveled with our two kids - ages 6 and 7. This hotel was "very welcoming" as my daughter kept telling me. We arrived at Gare de Lyon and it was an easy walk to the hotel. Very nice staff! There's a big lounge area, kids play room with blocks, books, and video games. We even had to try the pool even though I kept telling them that we can swim at home and we should visit Paris! But, it's nice to relax and take a break from walking. I was really happy we chose this hotel for our first trip to Paris with the kids! Great breakfast! We filled up in the morning and could manage just a snack for lunch. We will stay here again!
“Location is the only good thing about this hotel”
The location of this hotel is excellent. It is next to the main train station (Gare De Lyon) and very close to several restaurants and other businesses. Beyond that, the hotel fails miserably. The lounge offers a very overpriced "City breakfast" that consists of a croissant, OJ, and coffee. For 8 Euros, that seems expensive. The hotel staff was never very friendly. I was even asked if I wanted a receipt at check-out. When I said "yes", I was informed that a receipt was offered only at a fee! First time I have encountered a fee for a hotel receipt! I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone. Even the room was very warm the whole stay. I was only informed that they would work on the problem, but it was never resolved. Overall, not a pleasant experience.
“Good experience”
Good location. The room is smallish but well designed.
“Great for travelers”
The hotel is literally right outside the train and metro station......made it super easy to travel anywhere in Paris or catch train to other areas......staff was very friendly and helpful and spoke English.....would stay there again. Rooms were very large, modern and comfortable.....our window overlooked train station but we did not hear any of the noise.....it was great!
“Paris Trip”
I enjoyed my stay here at this hotel. The room were quite roomy for European standards. It was clean, bed comfortable, and they had a pull-out sofa couch. It was convenient to have the toilet and bath in separate rooms though I wish they had some ventilator fans in both. Make sure to tell the staff during check in that you don't want to have their breakfast because they will charge you each day you're there per person. I was surprised to see the bill and I had to inform them that we never ate breakfast there. 15 euro for breakfast is ridiculous price for me when you have the train station with food stalls and nearby restaurants around the corner.
