Good hotel, hard bed

Posted Aug 31, 2014
From arriving we received a warm arrival. We then got a lift not big enough for 2 and luggage. Got to the room. It was a pleasent room. But unfortunately the bed was hard and not comfy. Not giving us a good sleep on any night. Overall the hotel was really nice, staff too. But unfortunately the one thing above all things you need in a hotel is a good bed and that for us let the stay at hotel select rive goughe down. I would stay again but that is down to the location not the hotel it's self as it failed on its primary meaning. A good bed would expect more from a 4*.

I would recommend this hotel.

The staff was courteous. The air conditioning excellent ( as I had read that other places had AC but not cool). They spoke English well. Location is in a pretty place/plaza with water fountains. The hotel was a couple blocks from the Latin quarters which had great foods at reasonable fixed prices. Our room had a pretty view of the Sorbonne University. It was hard to find. You must ask for Sorbonne University and find the plaza with the water fountains. Also easy to access by metro from CDG airport.

Lovely hotel - Close to the centre of Paris.

Posted Aug 16, 2014
Pros: The entrance lobby leads out to a lovely square with fountains, restaurants and old stone buildings. We spent some time outside on most evenings.
Cons: The warm breakfast option wasn't all that warm. It was kept covered, but with no additional warmth it was cooling from the moment it was served.
Location: Close to the Seine, Notre Dame Cathedral and Pont St Michel. Within walking distance of the Louvre and several bridges such as Pont Neuf.
We booked this stay to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed. The hotel staff were polite, friendly and spoke very good English. We were made to feel welcome but tea and coffee were not available in the room and they would have been appreciated. Is that too "English" a thing to ask for? The room was nice; especially the en suite. The location is excellent - only a five to ten minute walk to Notre Dame Cathedral and the Seine. We had a lovely stay and if/ when we return to Paris we would certainly book to stay here again.

Perfect location!

Posted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: Location, location, location. Cleanliness.
Cons: Not sure anyone can do anything about room sizes. Maybe work on sound proofing the rooms better. Also, needs better quality bedding.
Location: Latin Quarter, Sorbonne, Notre Dame, Seine, St Germain.
Loved the location and being able to walk to the Seine and Notre Dame in under 10 minutes. Lovely surroundings, close to St Germain and plenty of shops, bars and bistros around to keep us busy. Room on the small (read - tiny) side, with the bathroom placed inside what would have normally been a wardrobe. View outside of the window to a wall less than 5 m away. Extremely clean, couldn't be more pleased about that. Only real pet peeve were the other travellers including the Americans next door who insisted on talking to each other from corridor through the door to the room. At 2 am. And at 6am. And then again at 7am. Would stay again, though. Maybe just growl at other visitors next time we can't sleep.

Lovely hotel in a perfect location.

A fantastic location in the centre of town, a scenic ten minute walk to the Notre Dame. The hotel is suitable for all, especially for a romantic week away. The hotel and room cleanliness were immaculate and over looks a small picturesque square with restaurants and fountains, a pretty place that is constantly bustling with a relaxed atmosphere. It's in a perfect location to walk to all major tourist attractions and is surrounded by metro stations which are perfect for travelling around. Grab some breakfast pastries from the local bakery and continue to the nearby Luxemberg Gardens to enjoy a stroll and breakfast by the fountain, where you could feed a duck or two. Make sure you check with the hotel if you require such items as an iron/ironing board, or a bath/shower combination as it stated we would have both, though we did not. The wifi was great at the beginning of the week however it deteriorated significantly and made checking in online for our flight home and buying tickets for attractions impossible. Be aware that at check out they charge you for city tax. If the above negatives were improved then they would have added to an already amazing week away.

Perfect Location and Welcoming Staff

Posted Aug 6, 2014
Pros: The location, staff, convenience.
Cons: The privacy of the bathroom
I took my 11 year old son to Paris and found this hotel to be the perfect location , 5-10 minute walk from Notre Dame and close to Cluny Metro. La Place de la Sorbonne is a wonderful oasis just off the Boulevard St Michel with 3 fountain side bistros to enjoy a drink or meal. A short stroll to the Luxembourg Gardens. The staff were friendly and accommodating, lending me a travel adapter when I realised I had forgotten one as well as being kind with my son's attempts at french. The room wasn't huge but by Paris standards it was a good size with a comfortable bed and 2 pillows, one firm ,one soft! The fact there was no privacy door into the bathroom could be an issue for the shyer traveler but that is the only issue I can think of with the hotel. We loved returning to it after a long hot day exploring Paris and found plenty of choices to eat in the evening in the immediate vicinity. Lovely stay.

What a great hotel. Ideally situated in a lovely square by the university and within walking distance of Notre Dorm and plenty of restaurants and bars. The rooms are on the smallish size but more than adequate and extremely comfortable without feeling squashed! We had no issues with it at all it was also spotless and clean! Would stay again and would recommend without any hesitation.
